The main issue with arc is it drops off on single target DPS in late game. It's great AoE, but against bosses it is meh at best.
Just unlocked the maps and tried my first map, a tier 1 jungle map. Took me 3 tries, I will finish Act 3 and maybe 4 before trying maps again. I did eventually clear the map and portalled out but is there no indication given that a map is complete? I checked and it says no remaining monsters but the portals to it are still there in the laboratory.
Unfortunately you started off with an absurdly miscatergorized map, no way the Jungle boss should be in a tier one map.Thanks. Not doing maps any time soon again, I was just wondering what they were so I tried one.
edit: a word
I'm actually going to disagree with the "farm dried lake to 77" bit. . . For your first character in a league, get the skill point in act 4 and then start running magic-quality low tier maps. You will need to fill out that part of the Atlas anyway, you might as well get xp for it.
You could also sacrifice some ES and use Xirgil's Crank to run a dual 6L setup that abuses Wicked Ward insanely well.
Not even remotely close. T1 maps is going to be hardly any better in xp and loot AND way worse in efficiency. The routes are so sub optimal in most maps, you spend more time backtracking. In something like Dried Lake, you don't care about that, because it's free to reset. You rush to Voll and hope to get a Brittle Emperor (which is only like 30c in ESC, so maybe it's not worth it anymore). Hitting a more build finished level before mapping allows you to more efficiently navigate and scale up maps. The value of drops from level 67-72 or 73 is not going to drastically improve. Going into maps at a higher level means you can do harder (more beneficial) mods from the jump, getting more currency as you and. You're also not stuck (at least, at first) in having to go back down when you find a higher tier map because you're not high enough level to efficiently do it.There is no way anyone should be farming Dried lake until 77. I can understand farming to 70 +- especially if you gear is lacking but lower tier maps with safe mods are going to be better return for time spent overall.

77 might be a bit high with the new XP formula and league mechanic making it easier to get decent rares, but if you're going into maps at 70, you're wasting a free t1 map with infinite farm for the sake of "maps".
So, basically, buy gorge, clear everything else, and only have gorge unlocked!Don't make the mistake I did: when you're ready to hit red maps, get as many different maps of the next tier as you can before running ANY of them.
I have so many torture chamber and residence maps because I fucked it up.
Basically, you want to unlock as much of a specific tier as you can all at once, because maps can only drop unlocked or adjacent maps, so not doing this means you'll just get spammed with whatever map you've unlocked and have a harder time getting the maps you want.
When you haven't unlocked anything in a tier, you can only get the adjacents for your +1, so it's easy to control which +1 can drop.
