just food for thought since most people have turned this into a "hate christianity thread" rather than a "disagreeing with Pat R. thread"; when hurricane katrina hit louisiana the first people on the scene were churches from across america. And this is always the case. I live in china and there have been numerous times where christian workers (including operation blessing maintained by the 700 club) have came in and built schools, dug wells, offered free medical services and many other free services even when the local govt wanted charged workers or organizations a fee to do free humanitarian work in the country. I know people like to hate christianity but take a look at some of the slum areas in america and you will always see christian outreaches helping the community in giving out free food, or trying to get people off of drugs, or even just offering the homeless a place to sleep etc etc. So argue and say what you will but if you actually open up your eyes the overall christian community is doing alot of voluntering and aid programs that are very beneficial. Anybody with common sense knows that helping people is a good thing, but for some reason people forget this![]()
Interesting to hear a perspective from China. Are you Chinese or an expat? Are you yourself religious? I'd be interested to hear what the Christian experience is in China (as much as can be said, of course.)
