It's her vain, party-all-the-time attitude that makes her worthless IMO. I didn't say that she hurt or damaged anyone, rather that she's seemingly not effecting much at all. She's just there. If you're not going to do something with the time that you have, then your life has no worth, again in my opinion. I don't judge all famous people the same way, because not all famous people have her attitude. I'd also be interested in how much of that business she actually runs.

Everybody has good and bad aspects of their lives,things they aren't happy with,things they wish they could change.The rich and famous don't struggle with the same issues we peasants do but that doesn't mean they don't have issues that are as problematic and serious to them as our problems are to us.Paris for starters has had the experience of dating a real POS slimeball,many of us have had that same pain,fortunately few of us having videotaped evidence of it circulating all over the world.

Until about a month ago, I didn't know who she was, so when I saw her on tv leaving a club, I thought she was some porn star with an obviously made up (so I thought) name. It seems my first impression was accurate enough.

I don't have the financial means to contribute to charities with money. I do donate old clothes to the Salvation Army and help people on a daily basis. Just this winter a friend and I spent an afternoon in -40F weather helping people push cars out of the snow and helping to jumpstart their vehicles as well. I also give rides to people if I'm driving on campus. Even little everyday things like opening doors for people and helping them pick up something they've dropped is well worth doing. Since I can't help financially, I help people in other ways.
 
I don't know anything about her, but I hate to hear about anyone being injured.

I hope that whatever happened to her wasn't too serious.
 
You can't hate someone for being born rich any more than you can hate them for being born beautiful. You can't give away riches any easier than you can give away your high cheekbones or pretty blonde hair.

Absolutely. Someone whose identity exists BECAUSE of the limelight, hardly has to "put up" with it as someone said. While noone is under obligation to do anything, those who have the good fortune to be given the best of everything, have, to me, an even greater duty to help society in ways they can. Most world religions have a day of atonement where something is given to the poor, and given the huge disparities among most religions, finding this as a commonality, is testatement to some consensual recognition of this as a moral duty.

But what has Ms. Hilton given - apart from hotel pornography, that is - to this world? The life she lives, and the persona she actively cultivates, is that of a supreme consumer. Buying endlessly with money not earned by her. Indulging her every whim and desire. Acting inappropriately, without any real purpose in life. Why is it that you respect a hard-working man and woman, and then call me jealous when I disrespect a woman whose only driving force seems to be to be seen as a spoiled brat (the simple life, anyone?)?

As a parent,rich or poor you get no guraentee's on the outcome of your children.Young people can and often do foolish,regrettable things,lucky for most parents we aren't rich so nobody is interested in our offspring's youthful indiscretions.My Nicole wemt thru a real wild period got herself into some jams that still make me cringe when I think of them but she learned,she matured a bit and she's turned into a really fine young woman of whom I am very proud.

How is that? she was what 18,19 at the time that was shot? Judging from what I've seen on the web and even here at ATOT where guys post pics of women without their consent in order to gain the approval of their monkey spanking peers I'd say there's a lot of very nice women out there who didn't see it coming. From what I recall she was dating the fellow and responsibilty and good judgement aren't highlighted features among the very young which is why we make allowences for and give the benefit of the doubt to the young.Besides,of all the tragic mistakes one could make in life,making one that brought pleasure to millions isn't such a bad thing.It's not like she set of a car bomb in Bagdad or something.

I didn't say she was a "victim" what I said was that she is young and that often the young do things impulsively that are regretable.if you treat the mistakes made by your peers with the same harshness you're dishing out to Ms Hilton,I'd predict a lonely social life for you.I spent the greater part of my working life in human services and the one quality that was most useful in helping others was having compassion and realising that where's there's life there is hope and that given the right support the most unlikely of people can and do rise up into being excellent human beings.

Well said, however, you only further my point - Paris Hiltons foolish, regrettable actions are only a learning experience IF they are treated as such. I suspect, and I highly doubt that I'm wrong, that Mr. and Mrs. Hilton continually bail dear old Paris out of her troubles, leading to a sense of consequence-free living. In fact, I remember reading that the parents forked over a hefty sum to buy back the original tape - although the effort was in vain, its indicative of how they've "parented" so far. It's apparent in the behavior and I've seen it so many times in college - I attended a liberal arts school known as a finishing school for the rich (and a few scholarship kids like me), and know quite well how these kids "mature".

I'ts much easier to judge outwardly on an internet message board. Of course I'm not as harsh with my friends and acquantainces, but they do know how I feel and I know what they think. I'm going to have a career of dealing with people's mistakes. Everyone makes them, but that doesn't mean they should always be brushed off as youthful indiscretions.
