Ok, yea, and?.... there are a lot of people who NEED a lot of stuff... but you choose to bash and hate someone because of this? Most people that need help put themselves in that position in the first place.. so why do they deserve anything that the Hilton family has? You don't even know the sacrifice that the Hilton family may have made to get where they are.... rich people have problems to you know.

Oh and socialism is not the answer to the worlds problems.

I don't dislike her because of what she has in relation to what I have. My problem is the gross misappropriation of resources directed toward someone like her, as opposed to a community of needy people.

The ones that you would like to help (the middle class or the needy) are the ones that are tuning into her show on a weekly basis. The needy and the middle class are the ones that are giving her all this unneeded attention, because it's the rich elite. They could easily boycott her show and dismiss her for being a rich snot but we don;t do it. And you know why.. It's because deep down inside most wish they could be her. She's living a life we could only dream about so that's why she is so interesting.

For her fans anyway. I could care less about her and I've never watched one episode of her show.

She didn't get her money from this show. She could have never had the show and still be able to buy a warehouse full of ivory backscratchers. I don't think people want to *be* her, they just want to have the kind of money she does.

She's not responsible for anything she was born with or into anymore than born ugly impoverished people are. She's also not somehow obligated to feel guilty for any of it.She's young, she does what other young people do,party and have fun,she just does so with a bigger wallet and garners the headache of a lot more press attention for it than the average 21 yr old does..

How many sacrifices has she made in her life? When she starts doing charity or helping out people less fortunate than her, THEN I'll show her some respect. I don't recall saying that I hate her, but I have no respect for her.

It's nice of you to use the dirty word "socialism" to try to gain credence to your argument, but most of the world's economies are mixed, meanind they have elements of capitalism and socialism. There is a balance that can be met between the two. It's not just lassez-faire vs. communism.

You're right, of course she's not obligated to do anything about it. I just find superficiality to be deplorable, especially if one has the means to help others. And not all of us ~21 year olds party.

Notice when you typed that first sentence you put a QUESTION mark on the end... why?...because you don't know the answer!!! Maybe she has given lots of money to charity... you don't know that... maybe she has worked in a soup kitchen a few times... you don;t know that either...

Geekbabe is right... she's just being a normal 21 yo but because of her FAMILY she has to put up with having fun in the lime light... personally I wouldn't want to be her...

I'm not sure but I do believe Ms Hilton contributes to some charities.Altruism is not a quality that is normally present in huge abudence in young people,it's a quality that is cultivated over time and with life experience. The callowness of youth is not confined to poor or middle classed kids.

Like I said, when I hear of her actually doing some good, then I'll give her respect. If she has contributed her time and wealth to charity, then I'd like to see which ones and how much. Until then she's just another useless, superficial person in the grand scheme of things as far as I'm concerned.

Well honestly I guess she is just like you and me then, eh? Yet you seem to expect more out of her just because she has money and fame. And how often do you here about celebs doing good deeds? Almost never unless its Gates giving multi-millions to someone...

I couldn't care less about the fame, but I would expect the rich to contribute when possible. Lord knows I'll never be rich, but I plan to live a life of public service, so I'll be giving and helping on a daily basis for the rest of my life. Perhaps I just have high, idealistic standards of people.

Oh and she's hardly useless as you say... she is now an institution that has created jobs and brought fortune to many people... I don't consider that a useless person.

Your whining and jealousy of richer people also make you to be a useless and superficial person as far as I am concerned...

I figure I'll be able to hold on to it for another year or two, before I deal with criminals on a daily basis. ;)

So my concern for the wellbeing of the poor and my planned life of public service make me useless and superficial?

Like already-wealthy Fox executives?

It all trickles down hill my friend, the good and the bad. That one series and soon to be sequel created tons of jobs. And besides with the amount of stupidity in America her publicity has probably garnered more biz at her hotels which in turn has created more jobs...

From your responses you have a real problem with upper-class citizens which has created much hatred and jealousy in you... seek therapy.

no my point was: what have u done that make u BETTER than paris hilton?

remember, there is always people that are richer than you and there is always people who are poorer than you.
DO you ever think that there are people who want to trade places with you anytime?
Anything you said can be applied against yourself, if you look from the right perspective.

Its not right to judge people as superficial or shallow, because of their wealth or social status. Other people can also judge you the same way

I think your planned life of public service has given you a fat head full of ego... not-unlike a lot of public servants I have met in my lifetime. Your concern for the poor is pointless... a lot of poor people CHOOSE to be that way.

All this running races at the special Olympics has cost me valuable time I am now stepping away from this thread... I need to get some work done before I go home tonight!

Paris I hope you get well soon!

That's more of an indirect consequence than something intended on her part, but fair enough. Again, the accusations of hatred and jealousy. I've expressed that my concern isn't for myself, but for others. I've also stated that I hold people to a higher standard, especially when they have certain means. I don't know how I can make that any clearer.

Again, you're taking the position that I, personally, envy her life. I'm merely a consciencious observer here. What she does (or doesn't do) has no real effect on me, since I don't need her charity. I'm judging her superficiality on her character and how she presents herself, which is how EVERYBODY is judged, including yourself. She has become a public figure, for better or worse, and as such has put her character out for everyone to see. If I was in the public spotlight I would expect to be judged as well--it comes with the territory.

And a lot of poor people don't have the opportunity to choose. It's nice to know that your time is so important that you can't be concerned with the general public, and your disdain towards those who serve you is especially charming. I'm sure your shot at the mentally challenged will help your argument as well.

??? No I never state that you are envious, but you sure are judgmental of her....

You basically judge her as a worthless human being. again my point is what makes you better than her?
People can judge you the same way.
Man she is just enjoying her life. Yes she is born in a rich family, so that makes her worthless? What has she ever done that hurts or damaged anyone??
So do you judge all famous people the same way?
She is just using her fame as a leverage for her, and I think that its very much her right especially in US
Also she is a very smart businesswoman, I read that she releases a handbag line in Japan that is selling like hotcakes

First off, sorry for the delay. I'm cooking some 4-cheese rice-a-roni. :D

It's her vain, party-all-the-time attitude that makes her worthless IMO. I didn't say that she hurt or damaged anyone, rather that she's seemingly not effecting much at all. She's just there. If you're not going to do something with the time that you have, then your life has no worth, again in my opinion. I don't judge all famous people the same way, because not all famous people have her attitude. I'd also be interested in how much of that business she actually runs.

Of course I'd be giving all my money to charity if I had that kind of money today. ;) Seriously though, she is young and perhaps someday she will do some good. Until that happens, my opinion of her will remain unchanged. Oh, and my ego could never be bigger than my brain...since my brain is SO HUGE. :D
