So the Barnards went on strike, moving out of their house and into a domed tent set up in their front driveway. The parents refuse to cook, clean or drive for their children ? Benjamin, 17, and Kit, 12 ? until they shape up.

I don't get it, why don't they kick the lazy bastards out?

Yes, why don't they kick those underaged kids out
Because they're worthless?

Sorry, but if some parents can't control a 12 year old, then it's their fault.

I got hit as a kid. It only took once and then I learned that parents are for parenting, not for mooching.

Hell, if you look at the point in time at which it stopped being acceptable to smack your kids for being total assholes [1993-ish for this are of the country] and then look at the kids who grew up in that period and later, and then compare them to those of us who were already relatively mature by that point in time, there's a HUGE, marked difference in maturity and responsibility.

I agree with being able to physically punish kids. I believe my dad told me something on hwere he came home on some drug, his dad was waiting for him. My dad said something stonerish to the question, "Where have you been?" He got thrown down a flight of stairs. I dun think he did drugs again.

Don't get me wrong. I don't feel that there is anything wrong with a good spanking but here are some of the previous comments:

whatever happened to the good ol' beatdown??

better yet, they just need to get a belt out and whoop those kids rearends.... they don't sound like their to old for it.

Step 1. Get kid to cut down branch from tree.
Step 2. Yell at kid and find larger branch.
Step 3. Beat kid until they run out of tears.
Step 4. Talk about what they learned.

they should beat their kids

Sorry but these don't sound like spanking to me. I was also upset that day because I had just got done working with an 11 year old girl who believed it was her fault that her dad gave her a black eye because she didn't clean up her toys. To me that is just pathetic.

Once again. I have no problem with spanking as long as it doesn't turn into the crap above.

So your telling me that it is because we can no longer beat our kids that their attitudes got worse. I am sure it has nothing to do the fact that so many people are have kids out of wedlock, or that people are having kids at 18, or that most parents are immature themselves because they get drunk, do drugs and don't care about the kids. Or the fact that character education has been eliminated from schools cause of this damn "separation of church and state" crap. BUt you can just keep on blaming the fact that people don't hit there kids.

I would ask for a link but I know you don't have one.

Well you said: "IF YOU HAVE TO HIT A 12-YEAR OLD TO GET THEM TO DO WHAT YOU WANT YOU ARE A REDNECK, A MORON, OR A SICK SICK INDIVIDUAL."

Many would consider a spanking hitting, how could you spank w/o hitting? You also typed it in all caps.

Do you really think people suggest beating the child until they run out of tears? Or do you think perhaps they were talking about spanking? I don't think anyone is seriously advocating a beatdown no more than you think everyone who hits their child is a redneck. Afterall you mother hit you when you called her a bitch, you going to make that statement to her?

Until you move out, or start paying some bills, you have no rights in your parents house. They provide for you, and you do what you are told. If you don't like it, leave.

Bingo. I'd certainly be introducing them to Mr Belt. Not to mention they'd loose ALL privleges: no phone, no music, no tv, no car, no friends over, etc. Let are allowed to go to school and work at home.

you can't beat your kids anymore, they call the police and have you arrested. great world we live in huh?

that's what leads to crap like this. when i was a kid it was "go get the belt from my closet, and choose wisely or i'll choose for you" and guess what, it didn't take more than once of that for me to get myself in line.

Have you tried an a$$ whupping when they fail to do their chores? It always motivated me when I didn't do my chores.

hitting a child is assult(techinicallytechinically)=child abuse welcome to america

Welcome to my world of discpline. You live under my roof, follow my rules, and do as I say. Don't do your chores, you're going to get a paddlin'. It worked for me, it worked for my parents, my grandparents, their parents, or so on.

yes what you do may work till one of your child tells a friend in classroom about how your discipline her and teacher over hears the converation at which time they are require by law to contact child protection agency if they it's a sign of child abuse.

In colorado ass spanking is totally legal. as long as the parent does not leave bruises you can paddle as needed.

Sorry, but I think the parents are idiots. They should have disciplined their kids when they were young and now that they are spoiled rotten, they pull some lame stunt trying to try to send the kids into a guilt trip and hope that they suddenly learn responsibility? Fscking retards never should have had kids to begin with.
