The parents are so incompetent, not only can they not control their kids, but they let themselves get kicked out of their own house. And thye think the Kids are the ones that need help? Ha ha ha.

Well the whole beginning part of "trying every type of psychology" crap tips you off that while well intentioned - the parents ahve no backbone. Sounds like they need to have some firm discipline and none of this "psychology" crap.

Kids take EVERYTHING for granted these days. Never known any time of struggle so they are never humble and expect things instead of hope for things. Huge generalization I know...

That is the parent's fault though!

How is it the parent's fault that their kids are greedy unhumble bastards? I've seen parents who raised several great kids, and then had one that would NEVER follow orders. Lord knows my parents did a very good job of raising my brother and I, but I was always very stubborn and headstrong. That is their fault? I guess they should have beaten me unconscious every time I didn't do what they said. The article said the parent's have tried a multitude of things.

Some times kids are just unmitigated pieces of sh!t.

Agreed, I was replying to the generalization of all kids these days, not about the kids in the article.

I am sure part of it is the parent's fault, however the impression that I got from reading the article is that the parents have tried many things in the past, and this was just the last straw. Sometimes there are kids who just act out of the norm, even for teenagers. It can quite possibly be that the kids need a reality check and this is the best way for the parents to do that.

This is so freaking dumb. The kids won't do work so you GIVE THE FREAKING HOUSE TO THEM.

I mean, seriously, what does this accomplish but rewarding the kids with independance for not doing jack?

Won't happen in my house, easy as that. I run a tight ship and anyone that doesn't want to adhere to that principle will find themselves on the shore with no where to go. School of hard knocks works wonders.

Step 1. Get kid to cut down branch from tree.
Step 2. Yell at kid and find larger branch.
Step 3. Beat kid until they run out of tears.
Step 4. Talk about what they learned.

Repeat as needed.

Kids like that are the result of a lack of discipline. I don't have to physically discipline my teenagers because when they were younger I laid down the law very firmly. That sometimes included some corporal punishment. I used it sparingly but always when it was required. It didn't take them long to figure it out. Now that they are teenagers they do not argue and always do the chores i give them with no argument. I think it is primarily because they fear me but I can live with that as long as it keeps them safe and they learn the proper way live and behave.

I have a feeling most of the posters that are apalled by this are still kids themselves while the older posters and parents understand that sometimes you have a bad apple or two in the barrel regardless of what you did to raise your child properly. It was mentioned they tried several different things and nothing worked. At their wits end they decided on this scheme. Even if it doesn't work at least they are sending a message to the kids it will not be tolerated anymore.

It would interesting indeed to see how some of you that posted negatively feel about it when you actually have your own children in the years to come. You will discover everything isn't as easy as you think.

With proper parenting you will not always have bad apples.... depending on how you raise your children at a younger age will depend on how they treat you when they are at the age of these two children these parents have....

Until you move out, or start paying some bills, you have no rights in your parents house. They provide for you, and you do what you are told. If you don't like it, leave.

this parents better hope that no one going to call child protection agency. With the dirty and all that inside the housem the kids can easily be taking away and parents will get charge with child neglect as having all that dirty in that house creates health issue. I am sure they are violating health code in what kind of condition there kids can live in.

striking a child is consider child abuse and you can be arrested for that. All your child has to do is tell a teacher that you are abusing and you going to get in hell of trouble and will end up speending allot of money to defend your self.

Welcome to my world of discpline. You live under my roof, follow my rules, and do as I say. Don't do your chores, you're going to get a paddlin'. It worked for me, it worked for my parents, my grandparents, their parents, or so on.
