These roles and abilities are born out in us through 100s of thousands of years of evolution. To go against it should be to ones own peril and it will be for this kid. I feel bad for him/her.

QFT. It is one thing to argue for gender equality in many parts of society, but it is a fool's errand to claim that it doesn't matter. Gender plays an integral part in determining who a person is through their experience. These parents are only going to f*ck this child up psychologically if they keep to that schtick too long.

The laws of nature don't dictate that children's gender must be known.

Honestly I think what they are doing is pointless, but I can appreciate the desire to let a child be what it wants to be instead of what it is told by society. Unfortunately it is mostly unavoidable because society also has nasty ways of dealing with people of ambiguous gender.

People don't have to be "forged" into a gender. They naturally fulfill those roles (if they are capable and it fits them) without having it beaten into them.

society isn't telling the child what gender to be. the fact that the kid has a vagina or a penis, will grow breasts, or have nuts, is what is telling the kid whether it's male or female.
 
Your mindless flailing against "liberal" parenting is so predictable that it's pathetic. I don't agree with what they're doing, but claiming that it's going to ruin the child's life is just speculation.

gender != your sex necessarily

people get quite upset about ambiguous sex because they think that you have to treat people of different sex different ways

if the parents are punishing the child for exhibiting normal behaviors as a girl or a boy then they shouldn't be allowed to have a child, but honestly i think this harmless unless you are super old school and feel that people must be drilled into their roles
 
I don't think that this is a big deal either. The kid will understand the relationship between sex and gender soon enough, and once it takes a gander at a human anatomy book it will figure out for itself. Worst case, its peers see it as a weirdo and make fun of it in elementary school and when it puts two and two together, it will consider itself male or female by 5th grade. In high school the fatties and uglies and shy will still be much worse off.

Exactly. Had these parents stopped being pretentious dipshits for 5 seconds, they would have realized that the freedom and choice they talk about is there whether the kid decides for himself/herself or some stupid parents decide for them.
 
You guys are getting too worked up about this. Studies show that gender identity is more biological than something that's raised. There was a boy who's circumcision got fucked up, and they decided to give him a vagina and raised him as a girl. He had gender identity issues his whole life until his adulthood when his parents finally broke the news to him.
