Excuse my ignorance, but don't people looking for really quiet cases these days use 120mm or 90mm fans?

Well, if a case you otherwise like happens to have 80mm mounts, these panaflos will still be very quiet as long as you don't have to move too much air.

Also, even if you have one 120mm in the back, I always have a fan in front of my harddrives, and I've never seen a 120mm mount in that position.

Correction: look at the Antec Super Lanboy. 120 intake and exhaust. SWEET.

Theres actually still some debate on this issue from the diehard quiet people. General public agrees with you though. My take is two 80mm fans undervolted move more air then one 120mm undervolted with just the slightest increase in noise. But also depends on the fans of course and there are so many variables/differents points to argue for each side.

The Super Lanboy has 2 120mm fanswith following specs at 12v:

- RPM: 1200
- CFM: 38.94
-dB(A): 24.85

They are very quiet but are not very powerful (at 39 CFM max), but I think it's better than undervolting a faster 120mm fan.

Yes, I know specs mean nothing, but I have these fans and a Panaflo L1A 120mm on my CPU HS and I can tell you that these fans are a lot quieter than the L1A at 12v. They are are the about the same at 12v as the L1A at 7v in terms of noise. The airflow at 12v is considerably less than the L1A at 12v. From my experience with these fans the specs are roughly accurate.

So can anyone order these? I'm afraid they might be out...

oh, and were you serious Howard? Because I can't decide if I should bust out laughing, or not...

Well, I know a site I'll never go back to. 30dB is twice as loud as 29dB? Give me a break.

I just got this fan 80mm
from case-mod.com
rated : 23.5db and 33CFM
and it is a led fan.

It is really quiet too, you have to put your ear next to the fan to hear it. I haven't try out the panaflo yet but do you have to put your ear next to it to hear the fan spin..

Warning!

I just got my shipment of 10 fans and it had zero packing. There were 10 fans in a tiny box with a piece of paper crumpled and pressed hard against the fan blades to keep the fans from rattling around. I used to work in shipping and let me tell you if there damaged ups wont cover it because it doesnt meet there terms for proper packaging.

Not to mention the most important fact that even though the blades on the panaflos are stiff. The slightest bending in them at all will cause them to be unballanced and create more noise and wear earlyier. and.. god only knows how BG micro stored them if thats how they shipped them like that.

I am cheap, but if I had to do it again id pay more somewhere else. Less super quiet long lasting fans doesnt matter to you, then your better of just getting some 99 cent specials somewhere else anyways.

These are going in a build thats still a long ways away. Once I get to that point im burning each fan in 24hrs and testing them with a mic. If any are doa or have excess noise ill post back here someday.

Wow I thought only some ebay sellers packed stuff that poorly. They should take some tips from Amazon on packing. Actually SVC has always packed my stuff well too.
If UPS refused to cover any damage, you don't think BGM would?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I only have 1 fan in my PC and that is the one over my heatsink (which is pretty noisy). Can I purchase the Panaflo 80mm fan and replace my current heatsink fan?

Thx.

(Note: When picking fans, keep in mind that 30Dba is twice as loud as 29Dba - that's how the decibel scale works.)

Somebody slap him.

i dont get the shift key comment...care to clarify?

Shift key is for capitals. Like at the start of sentences.

It is very unlikely your existing fan is a 80mm one, so you would have to build your own mount. People actually do that and it works, but you need to know what you are doing.

Buying a whole new heatsink/fan combo is by far the better option.

Bump for a good deal. Received 10 today, made in Japan, were packed OK. I didn't get an email about shipping either, they were mailed USPS.

Obviously, he appreciates the result of a very cool-running computer case.
I wonder what PSU he uses to run all 100 fans? ;)

Wow, really? Hmm. Maybe I should do an experiment, and replace my BB Sunons with some of these Panaflos, just to see what the real difference is.
