I ordered 6 Speeze case fans (80mm) from Newegg, maybe not as quiet, but they have both 3 and 4 pin plugs. I ordered 6 and they came out to $1.29 each. They also automatically cut shipping back from $4.99 each. Under $20 for 6 fans shipped doesn't seem too bad.

From my order....

[35-150-007] Has Volume Discount! N82E168COM 1 $.00

Subtotal $7.74

I've ordered from BG several times. I've received both China and Japan models.

The Japan's are definitely higher quality as reported here. They have a 2 pin plug and no RPM sensing, however an Xacto knife to cut off the 2-pin guide will make it fit fine on 3 pin connectors.

BTW for silent enthusiasts, that Silverstone fan won't hold a candle to the Panaflo. Even the Chinese version.

so this panaflo at $3.19 has only 2 pins. and bgmicro sells PWR1204 4-Pin Panaflo Fan Tail for $1.49. If i want to buy 7 fans, i have to buy 7 fans + 7 four pin?

No. You don't have to get the 4 pin tail.

try to visualize:

normal 3 pin:

this fan

|..|

make it look like this:

and it will fit.

bgbysleepy, these fans will plug directly into your motherboard if you have fan headers open. They require one little snip of the connector but it is very simple to do.

I now use a fan controller and control 2-fans per channel, the 'bearing' noise is audible at slower rpm, more than the NMB's I used to get from bestbyte, but I can't find them as cheap anymore.
Is that because these are from China? Normally everyone says the L1A's are about the quietest out there.

And even making the Panaflo 2 pin into a 3 pin, you'd have to have a fan controller that uses 3 pin connectors, right? You wouldn't want to power them w/ the mobo connector.?
I don't guess you can request Japanaflos? :)

Wouldn't a 9 blade fan be quieter than one with 7 larger blades like the Speeze Masscool mentioned above (at the same speed)? In aircraft, more blades = quieter.

BTW, the Masscool ends up $.99/fan incl. shipping for me, + tax :( if I order 15. Anyone else use them?

Isn't the 3rd in the connector meant for a reason ? AFAIK, it is for reporting RPM of the fan. If BIOS were to monitor the fan rpm (i'm considering this for my cpu fan), it would be critical.

Also, aren't ball bearing fans superior to sleeve bearing ones such the panaflo ?

99% of panaflo's you will find do not support RPM monitoring.
and ball bearings last longer than sleeves, but sleeves are quieter. But the use the "Hydro Wave" sleeve, which is its claim to quietness, and is supposed to last longer than conventional sleeves.

i replaced 4 system fans in my main box with these panaflos. originally had the coolermaster ballbearing fans rated at 25db. these chinaflos blow the coolermasters away. before my computer sounded like a small private jet under my desk, now i can hear my ionizer over the computer.

yeah im satisfied, great deal!

I ordered a case of 100 when I purchased mine. I think it took 5 days to get to me because they shipped via UPS.

You could have ordered 15 fans and gotten them for less than what you paid...

I have a bunch of L1A. I couldn't hear them, even when out of the computer case held by my ear (with the computer running in the background).

Note that the panaflo come in "L" and "H" versions, with the "L" ones being the quiet ones and the "H" having more throughput.

I ordered some 12L 24CFM which are supposed to be the same as the L1A. If somebody wants me to post a comparision, P.M. a reminder in a few days.

Hm, bgmicro.com shopping cart doesn't work right for me.

Randomly drops my items. Too bad, would have ordered the 10-pack...

Excuse my ignorance, but do these run off of 3v or 5v? I would like to use these in a stereo cabinet to cool down a receiver, cable box, dvd player, etc. and I need to connect them to AC instead of DC. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on the easiest way to convert these DC fans to run off of AC, please PM me :)

Anyone email yet and confirm if these are chinaflos or japflos, or will they not guarentee what they are?

From the people at http://www.silentpcreview.com/index.php they say this is one the best fans you can buy period. Also that the japflos are superior and between all the (I use this term lightly) anal members and staff, theyve probably seen 10,000 panaflos.

Responce to 3point14... 12v unless you want it to spin slower 5v work fine but I dont know about 3v... but not a direct from the psu line except 12v

You'll get Chinese versions. If you want a guaranteed Japanese, they're $5.99 each at Jab-tech.

Says in product description. 12 volt DC.
you needFAN1042
Or a converter, or a DC power supply.
You can just crack open your HTPC (you have one right?) and run the fans off of your P/S.
