does he have a daughter known for associating with (and almost married the son of) known druggies?

If the answer to those questions is NO, then your analogy just doesn't hold water.

What doesn't hold water is that Obama said "Leave my family members out of this" and the media complied.

When it came to Palin it was a pile on.

If this is not evidence of media bias what is.

Regarless Calling two females sluts on the air (especially one is 14 ) is classless and is no better than someone calling someone a nappy headed Ho.

Letterman is not funny and he continues to get meaner in old age. The funny thing here is that Letterman himself had a plot against his son so you'd think he would be more sensitive to kids.

Does Obama have a daughter with an out of wedlock child? You think the media would have listened if his kids were doing anything interesting like that?

Jesus christ people, only in paranoid conservative-land does the media covering a sex scandal prove bias. The media always covers sex scandals. If there's anything on this planet the media covers, its a sex scandal. This really isn't that hard.

If Bristol's ex-fiance wrapped his junk up or if Bristol knew about birth control, none of this would have been even happening.

Oh, and by the way, Bristol is a Big Girl Now. All 18 years old, and shit.

Where was the hue and cry when Boss Limbaugh explicitly compared the 13 year old (at the time) Chelsea Clinton to a Dog?

There was a lot of criticism directed at Rush for that, and he went on the air and apologized, and then left Chelsea alone.

One awkward moment though for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game ... During the 7th inning her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez ... Now, cut that out ... Get back into the dugout!

In the last year the over/under on Letterman jokes on Alex Rodriguez is probably in the range of 100.

Here's the video ...

Go find the Today Show video --- Palin effectively calls Letterman a pedophille.

"Letterman is endorsing the statutory rape of women."

"People are naive to think it's not Williow"

"Letterman contributes to the acceptance of abuse of young women."

"It would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman ... take it however you want to take it."

Jebus, people - it was a joke directed at Alex Rodriguez. Palin has to up the ante to keep herself relevant in her quest for the highest elective office in the US.

Oh, so if the joke had used Obama's daughter instead, it would still ahve been okay, cause after all, it was only a joke, and it was really directed at Rodriguez. I got ya. You are usually at least decent when it comes to at least thinking about an issue, but I can't believe you try to justify Letterman in any way. Palin may not be reacting in the best way possible, but that is no justification for Letterman.

You're an idiot. If the Obama's had a daughter that had already been knocked up and delivered the child, and then the joke was made...it would still be in poor taste, but anyone with half a brain would have been able to decipher the actual, intended meeting.

If it was Obama's daugher who had been knocked up, he would have never made it past the first round of the primary, let alone a national ticket.

You sure he apologized? I don't think he did. If I remember right he blamed it on some staffer of his making a joke that he had no knowledge of.

Here, little boy. Here's a cookie. Go sit in the corner away from the other kids. You'll feel better.

What's your point? That husbands get mad when their wife is criticized? How do you think Michelle Obama feels when Barack gets called a communist, a fascist, a dictator, etc... etc? It comes with the territory. Clinton had his daughter called the 'white house dog', and had it suggested that Chelsea was a love child from a transgendered adulterous affair between his Attorney General and his wife. He got over it.

Letterman's gag about her being dressed like a slutty flight attendant is right on, and that's why it's funny. Sarah Palin is just super easy to make fun of, she has goofy mannerisms, she's not very bright, and she freely wades into areas where she's over her head with a Michael Scott style confidence. It makes for good comedy.

Face it, Palin is easy to make fun of. It's going to happen... a lot.

Would Dave be ok if Conan or Jimmy Kimmel put his kids in their jokes?

Nope, and I can't imagine a father that would.

Just say sorry man, or you will lose at least this one fan who has been there for 20 years

It's the "slutty schoolmarm/librarian" mystique. She doesn't have to dress overtly slutty, not at all. In fact, the more straightlaced, the stronger the effect. She's a De Facto Dominatrix for sexually repressed males eveywhwere.

Luckily, you don't appear to be a member of the target audience.

Where was Palin's faux outrage when her older daughter was knocked up? Did she push to have the father arrested for statutory rape? I didn't think so.

By the way, where does this come from, that for sure for sure, Levi Johnston is definitely the father of Bristol Baby? It was public knowledge at her high school, that she was a hockey puck, she and her brother were doing drugs big time, and any number of boys might be the actual father.

For that matter, its yet to be DNA established that Palin's husband is the father of Trig, or even established that Sarah Palin was the mother.

But what to we expect from a famdamily that spawns troopergate and mindless slogans like drill baby drill.

And that somehow, over scandals and peyton place, we will find Presidential timber. Well immaculate conception worked for Jesus, but its not worked since.

Oh, ok. That makes sense now.

You know what is interesting and helpful about Sarah Palin? Rock hard Republican partisanship is revealed by those who support her. I mean, you HAVE to be a reactionary and blind Republican to support such a pathetic figure. I don't mean to bash her, but she really lacks the intelligence (among other things) to have run for vice-president and be the governor of Alaska. Only die-hards can support someone like Palin.

Bingo that's why I took her off my facebook friends list and now have permabanned all her PMs.
Regardless I used to be a letterman fan too but so many years back Leno took over that spot and I have not missed a top ten list since.

Who calls themselves articulate? Do you have someone or a group in mind - a public figure or poster here? Whether they are or not seems to be, if not pretentious, boasting.

I'm not sure why you're focusing on your self-image of not being brightest kid on the block. People of various intellectual and learned capabilities can have fucked up opinions like the ones you express. I really don't know if you're smart or not. Sorry, it never occurred to me to wonder about it.

It sounds like there was some serious peer pressure in your early schooling which caused discrimination against people who like learning. It could happen to anybody. It takes a mensch to rise above it - in spite of it.

You do seem to be clever, though. I like 'seemingly haphazard'. Is it truly haphazard or faux haphazard? That is the mystery.
