Her being a self proclaimed "Ambassador of Abstinence" who is a walking example of the need for our young to understand the value of contraception, I call her fair game.

I think Palin had a point, but as usual she went about addressing it the wrong way. She tried to put it as another "Us vs Them" when she should have made it clear that it was her 14 year old daughter at the game and that Letterman(dropping the whole evil Libral screed) should be more sensitive about her daughter.

This is basically why she should never be President, she is too polarizing and not because of her Political beliefs, but because all she does is Polarize for Political expediency.

Letterman has also been making distasteful comments about her so it is NOT just about the child.

Furthermore, Letterman continued to jab at her and her family in his monologue the next day as a setup for his "apology".

Where are all the woman's groups? Ms. California gets attacked for stating her opinion and called every name in the book...thought was was the point of woman's liberation...what no support? Now you have Letterman comparing Palin to a slutty flight attendant and A-Rod having sex with her 14-year-old daughter..

I seem to remember Don Imus getting into a lot of trouble from every special interest group on the planet including woman's groups.

It was excruciating, but I watched the whole thing. Listening to her attempt to string words and buzz-phrases together into a sentence when she goes off script is like fingernails on a chalkboard. This interview was not a "who let this person on stage, this is embarrassing" sort of interview like the couric one was.

She said, "Your accomplishments have to speak for what it is that you stand for."

Sounds reasonable, right? How could anyone argue with this comment?

What does she stand for? As far as family goes, last I heard, she believes in abstinence and a religious foundation. Her party decries teenage pregnancy - especially among the poor.

So what are her accomplishments in this area? Is it fair to judge a person's views on parenting by their parenting skills and results?

This does not give carte blanche to attack the kid who was unfortunate enough to be born to such a mother. Stating the simple fact that she became pregnant while in high school is not an attack, it's just a fact. Stating that she's a stupid twit is. It does open palin (or any other public figure) up to criticism.

If the daughter goes public about abstinence (or anything else, ie- eating cheestos), then she is open to criticism.

This isn't difficult to understand.

Jesus Christ, shut the fuck up lady. What a drama queen.

Bad tasteless joke? Yes.
Apology appropriate? Yes, and then some.
Meant for her 14 yr old? She has a 14 yr old? How many kids does she have?
Did everybody take a "knocked up" joke about a Palin assume it referred to her knocked up 18 yr old daughter? Yes, everybody but Palin.

He said sry, move on. Carrying on like this and dragging all her kids into it shows the only rape she is pissed about it the one Letterman did to the McCain campaign last year.
Sry Palin, you are not going to win this one.

I'm not a Palin fan, but god when it comes to Letterman or her, I'm 1000% in her camp, Letterman is such an unfunny, untalented, political hack, I wish he'd just DIAF.

also I wish Palin would come hovering in in a helicopter, (Airwolf style) and put a .30-06 round right between Letterman's lib eyeballs.

Oh my, oh my. The outrage. A repuggie wishing a painful death on someone. Now, that's something novel.

Do you want to kill all bad comedians or just the non-repug ones?

A) Letterman really needs to go after Palin's family for jokes? Where is the challenge in that?
B) Well if Bristol is any indication then the 14 year whatever-her-face-is IS probably pretty close to getting knocked up too... unless she is rather homely looking. So, were I in Palin's shoes, I would just moreorless kept my mouth shut in a "turn the other cheek" fashion. All I hope is that Palin's older daughter and her daughter's now husband actually really wanted to get married... hopefully they were not coerced for political expediency.

In the last year the over/under on Letterman jokes on Alex Rodriguez is probably in the range of 100.

Here's the video ...

Go find the Today Show video --- Palin effectively calls Letterman a pedophille.

"Letterman is endorsing the statutory rape of women."

"People are naive to think it's not Williow"

"Letterman contributes to the acceptance of abuse of young women."

"It would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman ... take it however you want to take it."

Jebus, people - it was a joke directed at Alex Rodriguez. Palin has to up the ante to keep herself relevant in her quest for the highest elective office in the US.

Really? That is your best arguement?

Oh, so if the joke had used Obama's daughter instead, it would still ahve been okay, cause after all, it was only a joke, and it was really directed at Rodriguez. I got ya. You are usually at least decent when it comes to at least thinking about an issue, but I can't believe you try to justify Letterman in any way. Palin may not be reacting in the best way possible, but that is no justification for Letterman.

Does Obama have a daughter with an out-of-wedlock child?

does he have a daughter known for associating with (and almost married the son of) known druggies?

If the answer to those questions is NO, then your analogy just doesn't hold water.

What doesn't hold water is that Obama said "Leave my family members out of this" and the media complied.

When it came to Palin it was a pile on.

If this is not evidence of media bias what is.

Regarless Calling two females sluts on the air (especially one is 14 ) is classless and is no better than someone calling someone a nappy headed Ho.

Letterman is not funny and he continues to get meaner in old age. The funny thing here is that Letterman himself had a plot against his son so you'd think he would be more sensitive to kids.

It is obvious Letterman told a joke that was in poor taste.

It is equally obvious that Palin took advantage of that and so did the media.

Why else is Palin on the media circuit again?

What the partisan hacks don't understand is....everyone wins in this situation but the kids.

The faux moral outrage by the resident R's on here amuses the hell out of me.

The right doesn't hesitate for a second to call any Democrat for their foibles, yet because Letterman said something "OMG!" against Palin's "child," the righties have their panties in a wad and want Letterman executed...

With the apparent Palin lack of family morals...how long before the 14 year old daughter does get knocked up by whatever moose-chaser she's dating at the time?

Personally, I think Letterman (or whoever wrote the joke) misunderstood that this was a 14 year old daughter...and thought it was the older one...but, it wouldn't be the first time I attributed some sense to a comedian (or politician)...and was wrong.

Tempest in a teapot. Lame excuse for putting Gov. Palin's ridiculous faux-smarty-bespectacled visage back on the TeeVee.

I'll grant her one thing: She's better at slinging the Talking Points than she was back in October. She's obviously been coached since then.

yeap. just more proof why she shouldnt be Pres. in something like this a straight foreword answere with a "she is 14. leave her out of politcal bashing. i chose this life and she didnt." etc. and not trying to turn into politcal stunt killed her.

shrug its nto faux R outrage. i would be saying the same if someone was bashing Obama's kids or biddens or whoevers. Children should be kept out of the political bashing a 14 yr old? thats so far over the line its not funny.

i wouldnt say lack of family morals since i really don't know them. BUT to say that just because the 17 yr old got knocked up is wrong. I have seen a few girls get knocked up who have strong family morals. sometimes shit happens.

anyone knocking her for getting knocked up better not have had unprotected or even protected sex at 16 or your being a hypricit.

Dave's joke was clearly aimed at the now adult unwed-mother face of abstinence only education, only she wasn't at the game. Accusing him of anything else is disingenuous. And whining about the liberal media's bias against the Palins is like whining about their bias against Brittney Spears or Micheal Jackson. This is a non-issue like everything else Sarah Palin related.

You're an idiot. If the Obama's had a daughter that had already been knocked up and delivered the child, and then the joke was made...it would still be in poor taste, but anyone with half a brain would have been able to decipher the actual, intended meeting.
