Just saw Rick Steve's show on PBS about the Renaissance art. Provides an nice background as to what was happening culturally in those times.
Plus, my conservative parents took me to the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art to see the David (or a copy) when I was somewhere between 9 and 10 when it was on special display. Just like the Mona Lisa and Kings Tuts Treasures.
Living in Arlington, VA, it was a favorite school day trip to go to multiple Smithsonian adventures though out most of my schooling. It cultivated my love museums and art galleries.
It a shame they closed the Old medical museum. Begged to go all the time. Elephantisis legs in jars, fetuses, Dilllinger's dick. Fun times.
