EDIT: I forgot to add the comment here that I've never understood why rich fucks who reside in other states can run for state-level elections. That shit is just as broken as dark/outside money IMHO. It might not happen as often, but why is it acceptable at all? There are things that require months or years of residency in a state to be eligible for. Why aren't elections part of that?

The way I see/read that is that a lot of those types of remarks and posts that have been all over social media and online lately is bullshit NOT from actual voters in the US. There's a hell of a lot of paid actors, obv.

FUD is a big money-maker during election years, and extra open to influence from outside players.

Or maybe I mis-read the point, iono. Maybe it's literally about liberals being stupid with protesting by not voting (because there are some).

The London Assembly seems to use an odd mixture of constituency FPTP representatives plus additional 'top up' members, in order to make the results proportionate to total votes cast, and retain a direct link between members and constituencies. Of course the Tories benefit from the PR part, so they kept that, even as they changed the mayoral election to pure FPTP because they thought that would benefit them (it didn't, much, because London hates them even more than it used to).
