But you gotta admit though the t-bird is a really good cpu. The major factor for most ppl is the incompatiblity issues which rise up.

Lemme say this if AMd's cpu's could run with Intel chipsets we would all be set. Cause no one could complain. I suppose amd should have done this instead because they wouldn't have to worry about anything intel would take care of the chipset's. Oh well

i don't know why people have to argue over which company has the better CPU; if it wasn't for competition provided by AMD we would still be using overpriced 500 MHZ CPU's. both companies have their weak points and strong points for us to chose which one we want to own. just my 2 cents worth

I'll be the first to admit that AMD is making real good products I just think they need to support them with a solid system that takes full advantage of the CPU's strengths. If they were not around nipping at Intel butt then prices would surely be way higher and I will add if AMD drove intel out of Business there prices would sky rocket too !

On the P-4 front I have said repeatedly that in alot of apps its not the best. But in the Apps i use it is more than enough and when you fire up any games it is smooth as silk. This is what I want and this is what I have. If I wouldn't of recieved the deal I did I would have never paid the price that they are now asking for it either. But the prices are dropping big time and fast. The reason I recieved the deal I did was because when the guy that had them first started to sell them there didn't seem to be much of a demand and he had 20 he was hurting to get some money rolling in. I tried to get more for my friends a week later and he had almost doubled his price because he was down to the last 2. The last part was for ZEPHYR'S remarks earlier

I thought we get something good here, but pretty disappointed to find it's only the Intel guys against the AMD guys. I expect to see some benchmark as hard evidence. It's pretty lame to just say it runs fast and smooth. BTW, I had used almost every generation of CPUs (no Xeon nor P4) from both Intel and AMD, and they both have good products.

Alright, it's too late and I'm too tired to bother with my usual quoting, so I'm just going post all my thoughts:

NOS: It seems more and more clear to me that you really know nothing and just keep posting this kind of trash because you feel the need to compensate for the crappiness of the P4. I'm also interested that you keep saying even at the same clock speed it's faster, when clearly it's not, both in cases where it's had its multiplier lowered to make the same speed, and also by emsixteen here who has a T-Bird system running at 1460MHz, which absolutely destroys the P4. Need to see those pics again? Here's the link to one pic and to the other one. Fried P4, anyone? Maybe, by some miracle, this will shut you up, but unfortunately, I doubt it.

emsixteen: I must say, that is a sweetass system, and a wicked overclock. Congrats man, and I wish I had a system like that!

PCFreak: I actually think you have a pretty good point about chipsets for AMD processors. I think that AMD needs to take a much more active role in this. They need to hire some chipset designers away from somewhere else, and put them to work so that the chipsets they come up with aren't just temporary solutions until 3rd party providers step up. It would be a lot healthier to have both them and VIA et al making chipsets.

Oh, and to NOS again: Do you even know the correct definition of a zealot? If not, you should look it up, because you suit it a hell of a lot better than any of us AMD fans do. We at least present our arguments clearly and back them up with facts, and are quite reasonable in what we think. We don't have an insane, crazed devotion to AMD as you do to Intel. Hell, if AMD started making crappy products, tried to force sh1t I didn't want down my throat, and Intel had a better, cheaper product, I would go back to Intel. But that ain't bloody likely.

rarebear: Intel is running PIII ads on TV rather than P4 ads because they know that the P4 is crap and can't sell it to the majority of people.

Tell us what is your heat exchanger on that rig MrGrim ?? But it seems fitting that a Thunderbird has to up the FSB to even touch a P-4.

LOL your the one posting BULL here. It seems your the one with something to prove, either ego with your &quot;SUPER&quot; fast P4 or your ultra big pecker. Most people that do this feel insecure and is usually the opposite(No P4? small peck?).

Actually the Tbird compares in everyway except for 3 programs: Bapco, Flask, Quake 3. I bet the 1.46 Tbird would smoke the P4 in UT. As for any other benches, its pretty evident through Tom's benches.

Also I just benched with the LAmerz Sisoft and the CPU bench is a Tie he wins ALU I win the FPU mine was 2081 on the FPU and 3760 ALU . Now lets talk about the rest of the Sisoft Benchmarks how about memory Bench I score 1796 ALU/ram and 1869 FPU/ram and with the Multl media Interger is 6740 and Flonting Point is 8363 and then there is one more we should discuss 3Dmark I score 10130 so lets do some comparing and then we can do Q3 if you like. But I still say the proof would be in the playing the challenge still stands. If someone has some web space that they can upload these screen shots to I will email them. I would put them up myself but dam @homes registration sight is down and you have the go thru that to turn it on.
