I love Yukon Gold potatoes. They taste great when roasted with a pork loin.

They were developed here in Guelph, Ontario.

Do tell, Iron Woode. How would you describe the taste? Hopefully they are not too much Yukon and not enough tater.

Some chef's have no clue. Here is an offering from a menu I looked at once:

Harissa braised lamb neck - crispy eggplant, shaved fennel, toasted lavash, braised mint butter..

I like my eggplants soggy, my fennel unshaven and it is rather brazen to serve braised mint butter to anyone who dislikes it. And who the hell toasts their lavash?!! Crazy people, that's who!

Yukon Gold potato haystack - spicy cracklings, smoked potato hollandaise..

Most potatoes I've seen are starchy white, not gold, much less "yukon gold", unless they were under the influence of butter sauce. I guess nobody told them that when you smoke potatoes the last thing you want is spicy cracklings all over the place. The last time I tried that it make me sick for a couple of hollandaise.

Whole roasted whitefish - cracked olives, arugula salad, charred orange

I like my olives uncracked, my oranges singed (not charred), and who would dare arugula a salad? That's just wrong!

what a distinguished palate you have. Arugula, how exotic.

What pisses me off is nondescriptive terms. WTF is Gatorade "Icy Blast"(made up name, but typical)?! How about a "Batman" flavored Slurpee? Fuck you. Tell me what the flavor is. If it doesn't exist in nature, use the closest description.

not sure if serious, but...

they have a nice light, buttery taste and as a waxy potato they hold their shape when roasted.

here most commercial non-artisanal ice cream shops sell the smurf flavor in addition to the "real" ones.

It's blue, and it's just normal no-flavor ice cream with sugar and blue colorant added.

Yukon gold is an actual potato cultivar. They don't really taste different from the white variety, but the texture (both the skin and inside) is usually much better.

If you flipped out that much from gold, don't try looking for purple potatoes.

Or fingerling. Fuck it. You should look for true fingerling potatoes. The best.

They definitely taste different than russets, Yukon Golds have a more buttery flavor.

Only someone who reports youtube videos for fun would take this degree of offense at marginally creative menu offerings. Or this is literally the worst trolly humble brag I've ever seen that someone just ate a "fancy" dinner.

Yuikon Gold's are awesome. Great texture and good slightly sweet flavour. They are quite close to Spring potatoes that way. They also have a thin skin that don't need to be peeled.

Sad attempt at humor. Pathetic attempt at criticism.

Do not try either again.
