Because you are not able to participate in the discussion because you are actually on the outside trying to pretend the discussion is not about what the discussion is about.

I hope that helps.

Great, I look forward to your thoughts on the discussion that is taking place and perhaps new ones you yourself introduce!

Great. Sorry, I taxed you so much. You can now resume your one liners.

In the end, it looks like the 290X is going to be able to run reasonably quiet and cool and won't require 10sec. breaks 2x a minute to do it. There will be the option of opening it up for those who want to wring out the most performance they can. It has voltage adjustment and you can set it so the cooler can ramp right up, or stay at ~40%. According to Linus, there are custom designs, so people have the choice of higher capacity coolers and PCB's built for enthusiasts. Whether AMD can outperform nVidia's ~560mm² chip with a ~430mm² chip remains to be seen. Leaks are pointing that way though. Oh, and price. I feel pretty confident that it will offer better perf/$ than nVidia's offerings.

At this point what else is there?

I probably wouldn't do well as a special needs teacher, but thanks for the compliment.

What remains to be seen is if AMD can actually get into the lucrative HPC market with this rather large die for them. Because perf/nm is meaningless when one company is selling many many larger chips with far higher margins because they do something else better.

I personally don't care if AMD, nVidia, Intel, or anyone else gets into the HPC market. I don't buy cards for HPC. As far as perf/mm² not mattering, keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. It allows for the chip to be sold at a lower price. That's good for you and me.

But you should, because you want AMD to last right? You obviously are personally invested in the company, so you should care if they do well or not.

As far as perf/mm² affecting price at our end, you clearly have no idea what Nvidia and AMD are selling the chips for to AIBs. It's either that or you're grasping so hard you're trying to make things up.

You think the 7970 was $550-600 at release because the chip itself made up a bulk of that cost?

You think the 7970 chip is any different in fab than the 7950 which sold for much less? You think the cost of making said chip has dropped from requiring us to be charged $600 to less than $280 today?

You think Nvidia is selling GK110 for $5000 to $650 when it's the same chip is related to cost to manufacture?

Do you think?

I don't think any of the things you are attributing to me. I surely am not personally invested in any tech company. I do want competition though.

You saying I have no idea about what they sell chips for insinuates you do. So, what are these prices. Do tell.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the things I attributed to you are true.

What do you think?

You want them to be competitive, how do you think AMD is going to continue to do that without income?

Is it your objective with every post to derail threads, or do you presume it is just something that happens because of everyone else?

Temps look decent with the OC, though I wouldn't get a reference card myself. Since aftermarket ones are supposed to be available, I might pick up one. All depends on pricing though.

You said I'm personally invested. I said I'm not. If you insist then you are just calling me a liar. You don't know me at all. Nothing you say or think affects me or my life at all. I have no reason to lie to you.

If you want to discuss it further, I suggest you stop attempting to derail threads and discover the magic of private messages.

Cough

In a "thread derail" scenario I suspect most people wouldn't choose 3Dvagabond in a simple comparison....

Balla you are using Treek too? he is very funny lol :)

Yes, I dropped a 40 stack when I came back and switched servers. Lost a lot so I didn't even get back what I lost :p

I try to play my old chars and I'm lost, I forget what I do so I figured I'd just start all over and enjoy the process again rather than be the stupid high level.

He's better than HK was for me, thou his dialog (which has to be read) isn't nearly as awesome.

This is my highest Sith, did foundry earlier tonight (first time, kotor galore) and enjoyed it. Also the 3rd companion story as I said was the best I've experienced in the game.

I wonder it one can make some tee with that card with WC kit on it when overclocked and overvolted. Uber-Moder should help keep temps up for the task :)
Can't wait to see the cooler disassembled in TPU review

How is that relevant to the topic?

I don't think Titan owners care to be honest. If they put down 1K on a GPU, I doubt they care that they paid a lot.
But not all titan owners are the same & I bet a lot of'em would be super pissed right about now, besides don't you think that perf/$ matters even if it is a titan owner we're talking about.

If they didn't get pissed when the 780 dropped, they won't now.

You could say that however the argument laid out in favor of Titan back then was compute & 6GB VRAM both of which don't seem to work against the 290x especially with the leaked benches that show the titan being easily surpassed at high resolutions. Again not saying that the titan owners "do care" but I just don't see a market for it right now outside of the Nvidia loyal fanbase.

The 5760x1080 benchmarks are somewhat disappointing.
