It's the pits to be without power, but at least it wasn't below freezing the whole time. We lost power last year during January, with temperatures below 20 degrees the whole time. Some people were without power for over three days. Pipes burst and everything.

Still, in some ways, what you had was just as bad. No fun.

It was below freezing most of the time we were without power. Got away with only having a pump freeze up, no pipes broken.

Mostly, I just want a hot shower. heh

Power finally came back on. Guess the screaming we did last night finally did something. I saw them come up and they had dispatched THREE trucks to fix it. As we told them, it was a five minute fix. They were not there long. Now I just have to wait for the water heater to get hot.

YAY!

BOO! Power was only on for about two hours, then went back off. :| At least it was on long enough to get a short, hot shower.

On day 5 with no power.

Smooth Sailing out here in Forest Grove. Don't think we lost power at all, lots of crap blown everywhere though..

Wifey had a heck of a time getting into work this morning however. Her restaurant is in Beaverton on Canyon and TV Hwy was a PITA with all the lights out.

Only restarants I can think of in that general vicinity are Hooters and Stars "Steak House". :Q😉 Not that there's anything wrong with working there. I've been to both and don't have any complaints.

LOL 🙂, no, my wife works at the Black Bear Diner right where TV Hwy turns into Canyon.
Hey, I ate there a couple of weeks ago while getting my car detailed across the street. The staff was very friendly and the portions were gigantic!

Bryophyte, sorry to hear that you're still without power. 🙁

They're saying the power is likely going to go out in Factoria (Bellevue) again later this afternoon. Apparently they're going to cycle the power around to some areas that have been out for days.

Oh yea, you get your money's worth at the Bear 🙂 If you ask for my wife Lynda, guaranteed great service:thumbsup:

Geez, I almost feel bad that we never lost power at all out here in Forest Grove.

Looks like I certainly picked the right week to go back to Texas.
Was sunny and 75ish all week.
Sorry to hear about your power ordeal Bryophyte.

Thanks. 🙂

I called the power company again and they basically told me "Don't hold your breath." They will NOT estimate how long it'll take (other than to vaguely say that "it'll be awhile yet" and told me to call again tomorrow. :|

Day 6 begins about now.

Awww...If you guys need a place to stay for a while, let me know. Again, I always have a fold-out couch and warmth.

Or maybe a *high five* would be more appropriate. In any event, sending empathy your way.

 Hey, I got a shower this morning! I'm not intolerable to be around today.

Hmmm. When we lost power, we still could take showers. The natural gas wasn't interrupted and natural gas water heaters don't use electricity. Do you have an electric water heater?

worse than that, she has a well house that froze🙁
Good luck with getting it back, Bryophyte. We'll think warm thoughts.

Yeah, electric. I live way out in the country. When we build our next house we'll get LP and switch to gas water heater, stove, and generator.

Edit: gas furnace too. Forgot that.

🙂 At least we have a wood stove, so we can keep warm and I can cook. My son is trying to see if it's possible to make chocolate chip cookies on the top of the wood stove. They're putting together a sort of oven using a pan, brass trivet and a bigger pan to put over the whole thing.

What do you (or your wife) recommend from the breakfast menu?
