Venezuela has fighter jets???!
Yes. And they've been receiving various arms from the Chinese and Russians over the years.

And The Black Panther Party was not exactly law abiding.
That story is amazing. I have never had a whole lot of trouble flying but it's been domestic, and sporatic (particularly since covid). What would you say you learned from this debacle and can you suggest strategies to prevent snafus traveling? I do have a passport and would like to use it. Don't do layovers? Connecting flights bad idea? Travel insurance? Avoid certain airlines, even countries? Plan ahead or don't plan ahead too far in advance?
Trump administration is looking to cancel the Biden era consumer plan for airlines to compensate flyers ($300-$775) when they screw up your flight or cause you to miss your connection.
Europe has this and we got to use it a couple of years ago when we flew British Airways to Madrid to see our former exchange student.
British Airways was an hour and a half late arriving in London Heathrow for our connection to Madrid so they put us on a flight the next day. They had to put us up for the night and feed us.
The following day they boarded late, forced everyone to gate check the luggage and because they boarded late we missed our flight plan crossing French airspace. France was having air traffic controller strikes and delayed us to the point they had to cancel the flight.
They delivered half the luggage then told the rest of us they weren’t delivering anymore luggage that night and they would ship it to us at our final destination in 5 days. We would not be in Madrid in 5 days so this was kind of a problem. They also scheduled us on a flight the next day to Budapest and then Madrid.
We said fuck that and told our exchange student and her family to go home. See they didn’t live in Madrid and had driven 5 hours to pick us up. They had rented rooms at various historic spots so we could spend 2 days driving back to their place seeing the country. We missed all that.
Instead we spent $1000 on 5 tickets on another airline from Gatwick to the airport closest their home in Spain for 6:00 AM the following morning. Lucky for us while we were doing this they decided to deliver the last of our planes luggage.
The return flight from Madrid was also fucked as we again had a 1.5 hr layover in London and we left 45 minutes late from Madrid as they accidentally had two women with same exact name assigned to the same seat and they couldn’t figure out if they had actually passed customs.
Getting from one terminal to the other at Heathrow takes over an hour because it literally fucking requires planes trains and automobiles. We would have missed it if it hadn’t been delayed.
The one bright spot was we filed for the missed flights and British Airways payed us £600 X 5 people. Which basically payed for our flights.
Now we were supposed to get that kind of payment for airline fuckups but this administration is going to cancel it. And I’m fine with it. My family and I deserved the payout for the above cluster fuck but US conservatives do not so fuck em.
So much for bringing back manufacturing to the US...
A one-two punch of tariffs and pissing off allies that were going to help to usher in more manufacturing.
Looks like they are targeting and shutting down Elon Musks' competition. Literally, by force.Great time for the U.S. to raid a battery plant construction site in Georgia and arrest 450 people, including executives of the company building the plant!
The ethos was that they were taking care of their own, on multiple levels. And The Black Panther Party was not exactly law abiding.
absolute classic....The day is still young, let's see if he can get an Arleigh Burke sunk by the Venezuelan Air Force.
The rules of engagement of a man with a very small penis trying to act tough.absolute classic....
only the US is allowed to fly over boats in the Caribbean (and also blow them out of the water)
look at these dumb fucks, what are they trying to make noise over i suppose?

"I don't want to talk about that." IOW, I don't know the answer to that question ("how close did they fly over").absolute classic....

So build factories in US to avoid tariffs , unless they compete with ours, then we shut you down....so much winning. I don't understand why the job report isn't better....Looks like they are targeting and shutting down Elon Musks' competition. Literally, by force.
Well we do tend to buy trip insurance now. (There’s more coverage if you buy at the same time or within a day or two of purchasing tickets), leave at least 4 hours of layover between connections, watch your and think long and hard about flying British Airways. That story is amazing. Once again this administration does something I figure is the opposite of good sense. SMH all the way to 2029? God help us if the GOP still controls the House, Senate and White house then. Moving my ass out of the USA would be a monumental task for me presently. I figure it's possible, though.
Europe has always struck me as the bastion of civilization on earth. However, I have been hearing that they've gone covid-blind, which concerns me a lot and have to wonder if they've lost their minds.
I never thought the connections were that bad for BA in LHR when I've done it from the US East Coast, but I think I always look for at least a 2 hr connection.Well we do tend to buy trip insurance now. The main issues are British Airways allows connection flights at Heathrow of 1.5 hours which they were struggling to meet and it’s impossible to get anywhere in Heathrow in less than 1 hour. It’s massive and sometimes requires buses or trains from terminal to terminal or buses from gate to plane.
BA was missing so many connections that they had deals with local hotels for their stranded passengers. The one they put us up the first night at had a free buffet dinner for BA passengers.
We flew them because we got good deals ~ $550 round trip but if and when we fly them again we’ll have backup plans for if they strand us again in London.

Yeah... I took a United flight to Milan from Boston via Frankfurt many years ago that was operated by Lufthansa. The way to Milan was fine - I think they gave me a ~2 hour connection. The way back was kind of short, and my flight out of Milan was delayed by 1 hour. To compound it all, my flight in Frankfurt pulled into something like Gate A30, and my flight to Boston was literally right below it at gate Z30 - both about as far away as you could get from passport control. I somehow made my flight, probably thanks to the business class ticket letting me skip the plebs in the passport control line. I think I was the second-to-last person to board, and they had already pulled away the second jet bridge. My checked bag though arrived the next day because it took the later flight, and I vowed never to book such a short connection again for international work travel.BA will definitely try to sell a minimum connection time itinerary to the unaware. Lufthansa used to sell 45 minute connections in FRA, an airport which is the model of German inefficiency. I strongly prefer to connect in AMS or ZRH instead if I have to do it on the Europe end.
Republicans have fully abandoned the “Party of Lincoln” brand. Trump is the anti-Lincoln. Lincoln brought a fractured country back together. Trump divided us like no other and waged war on his own cities, his own citizens. Not since Andrew Jackson vs. the Cherokee has any other President led a campaign of terror against people living within our borders.
I'm reading a book right now called The End of Night, Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light by Paul Bogard. He teaches writing non-fiction at James Madison University, at least did so when this was published in 2013. His extensive discussion of walking in major cities (starts out in London), has had me quite curious to visit London. The names that the English give to their streets, bridges, buildings, parks, geographical entities, etc., it invariably excites my imagination. I figure that going there will be exciting. I have a few relatives who've lived in England most of their lives.Well we do tend to buy trip insurance now. Understandably, as none of us lived through Nazi Germany. Until now.I have never seen America this fucking weird in my lifetime
