FEMA now requires an email address to register for aid. Because there has never been an emergency where internet access wasn’t impacted.

This is one way to cut FEMA head-count by not needing people to walk around and talk to people in person. Just waiting for a major disaster in a red state and all this going to shit and some red-neck in a trailer complaining how he doesn't have a e-mail.

Why is Finland putting a Fence along it's border with Russia if it is not effective against deterring mass migrations?

1. It’s just a fence (cheaper than bollard wall)
2. It’s only 15 feet high (again, cheaper)
3. When fully built, it will cover less than 15% of the border (cheep cheep cheep)
4. They aren’t wasting money on paint (sensing a theme here?)
5. Russians are lazier than Mexicans. It’s a fact.

That said, I really hope there aren’t any reindeer crossings near this thing.

It might have something to do with the size of the problem and scale of the border in question being much much much different from what exists along the southern US border. Maybe. Just maybe.

Or just Maybe, Maybe - Fences work at borders to deter mass migrations. ;)

Kristi Noam brilliance on display:

That's Brilliant!

At least until the paint all flakes off in two months because they didn't prep and primer the surface first. It's garunteed that they will go with the lowest bidder on this one.

They would probably use leaded paint if they could, D-Bags that they are.

Well shit! If another country is doing something stupid it must mean it’s not stupid then, right? Is that your level of logic?

Virtually no migrants arrived after Finland closed the border for passengers at the end of 2023, but the Border Guard defended the decision to build the fence.

I now question your critical thinking skills.

They won't go with the lowest bidder, they will give the contract to a friend. Not that the quality will be any better, but the corruption is guaranteed.

Well shit, Poland doesn't fuck around either with their border and bad actors. You think they might be on to something?

Those people in Latvia didn't check with you before building a border fence?
