This has been the plan all along. Eliminate mail-in ballots and revert back to a hard count of paper ballots. Oh and remember your count has to be submitted by midnight on election night and it’s too bad if your urban polling location is understaffed or runs out of ballots due to state legislatures captured by the GOP. Don’t be surprised to see early voting targeted too.

Just waiting for SCOTUS to rule that states no longer have the right to govern their own election policies and GOP congresscritters to turn another blind eye to the erosion of states’ rights under Trump.
While I think the mail-in-ballots are relatively secure it actually works in dems favor to get rid of them given that more republicans are in sparsely located areas. Of course republicans states have helped here by limiting polling places in cities and increasing polling locations in rural locations but still overall ....

Having said that the 2nd part is that Trump wants the federal govt to control the machines which is a bit scary given how the trump administration operates.

Yes, let's take election advice from a murderous dictator. Trump is such a moronic cuck. That was Putin telling Trump that the mail in ballots are the only things he can’t control, so get rid of them. Easiest mark in human history! Donald Trump boasting that the war criminal Putin agrees with his dumb election fraud lies. lol. Donald Trump clearly believes the things Vladmir Putin tells him. That should scare everyone.

Trump: - "There was no involvement in our elections by Russia"

Also Trump after Putin meeting: - "Putin knows for sure the election was stolen"

He can't deny there was Russian involvement in our elections now!

Trump's approval craters to 38%. "I hereby declare all voting illegal". "I stay in office forever"

Six states have ALL mail in voting, and they have the lowest voting fraud % nationally. Florida has been doing mail in voting for two decades. Have they been cheating all this fucking time? Trump votes by mail down here. And he won Huuugely

So much for supporting the troops. Tens of thousands of whom vote via mail when serving abroad.

The Republicans are a party depending on low turnout says A LOT!. We're a country going in reverse.

Trump taking advice from Putin on the framework of democracy and the art of putting down a ballot.

Dont go quietly into the night gentlemen, dont go quiet. SCREAM for fucks sake. And kick and punch.

There hasn't been a free/fair election in Russia since 2000 (and many are still skeptical about that). Taking election integrity advice from Vladimir Putin is kinda like going through the local Baptist preacher child molester listings looking for a babysitter for your 9-year-old daughter.

Putin won his elections by 90% of voters. Trump demands the same result. NOBODY knows "honest elections" better than Putin. lol

Imagine being a Trump flunky and having to somehow go on the Sunday shows and defending your boss getting played by a communist dictator?!

Then again, they did sign up for this.

The sad reality may be that the white trash voting for trump don't see anything wrong with child molestation and may even be amenable to it. I think I read about some pedo saying something to the effect of "the child's parent approved so I don't see the issue".

Nope, it was a short story "The Sentinel" . The novel came _after_ the movie. I read a lot of AC Clarke as a kid (that and Asimov and James Blish), was a bit of a geek, but lost interest in SF as I got older.

The movie was arguably kind of boring but maybe could be seen as a kind of work of conceptual art rather than a typical SF movie.

The lack of interesting human characters was, I've read, supposed to be a sort of comment on the dehumanised nature of technological man.

All very Neitzchean, apparently.

It looked awesome though - seeing it cold on a big screen, from the better-than-planet-of-the-apes ape costumes, through to the relatively-realistic depiction of space travel, and the very-1960s "acid trip" finale, and the sheer multi-millennia scope of it all, I remember finding it fantastic as a child (who, IIRC, had read things like Rendeovouz with Rama and Childhood's End at that point - not sure the novelisation of the movie had been published yet).

In any case, it was Clarke's brain child and written at the same time as the movie was being created. Better book than movie.

Some of these people do still consider their children as closer to chattel than independent human beings. This is also part of their defense of child marriage, when an older man impregnates a child they think it's only right to sanctify it via marriage. That way it's, you know, "okay in the eyes of the lord" or whatever. They also often don't believe in marital rape (as in, you can't rape your wife, she's your wife and is obligated to you sexually).

Can't forget these billboards:

that seems a bit concerning

~
Mr. Martin followed up this breach of prosecutorial protocol by showing up outside Ms. James’s Brooklyn home, clad in a trench coat and posing for pictures for The New York Post.

While he told an inquiring neighbor that he was “just looking at houses, interesting houses,” Mr. Martin later appeared on Fox News saying that, as a prosecutor, he wanted to see the property with his own eyes. It was the latest in a string of media appearances he made in relation to his investigation of Ms. James, one of Mr. Trump’s most prominent adversaries.

Well obviously Trump doesn't think Slavery was that horrible:

Maybe Trump should spend a year as a slave in Russia and perhaps visit the front line first hand.... as a combatant.... would make a lot of people happier.

Or perhaps rephrased a privilege white male who was a draft dodger commenting on culture.... yea right.

Same soppy little shitheel responsible for cancelling Black History Month observation in federal workplaces is going to have the audacity to say this:

“The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL, where everything discussed is how horrible our Country is, how bad Slavery was, and how unaccomplished the downtrodden have been — Nothing about Success, nothing about Brightness, nothing about the Future,” Trump wrote.

You know, the sort of things that Black History Month is typically celebrating.

State Rep in Texas is camping out in the the House until next week rather than be assigned a fascist security detail.

Another Texas rep got in trouble because her DPS escort couldn't keep up with her on her daily walk. Are Texas Rangers hiring Meal Team 6 members nowadays? https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/5460036-texas-democrat-threatened-arrest-escort-lost-her/

pcgeek11 and Greenman will see the Trump 2028 and Four More Years hats and uncritically think "this is fine" and "they're just hats, calm down, you get upset over everything" and "well the rules say he can't run again so there's nothing to worry about".

FEMA now requires an email address to register for aid. Because there has never been an emergency where internet access wasn’t impacted.

The stupidity of the morons Trump puts in charge of these agencies. They simply have no clue what they are doing.
