Rapidly destabilizing the country could potentially have some pretty bad outcomes for them personally, which at least Roberts is likely to comprehend.
Roberts is not enough. You still need Barrett or kavanaugh.

And since when does Roberts have an army to enforce scotus decisions?

This has happened before.. Andrew Jackson just ignored SCOTUS and did what he pleased.

And he got reelected!

So I assume some judge is going to issue a TRO pretty soon given *gestures at looming collapse of government programs and possible impending descent into mass unrest* uh everything.

I lay 3-1 odds that the admin ignores the order.

Tried googling it, but all that came up was "traffic regulation order". Which doesn't seem quite relevant.

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal order, which allows the highway authority to regulate the speed, movement and parking of vehicles.

My second thought was "Trump Restraining Order", but I don't think that's an established term, even if it seems to fit.

Temporary Restraining Order - its an initial order to prevent something from happening while the longer legal process plays out.

I think he wants to destablize the country to declare an emergency and bring in the military.
Most likely, use the illegal immigrant 'crisis' as well as the newly found criminal 'crisis' to prop up the now-labor-less agriculture system.

A judge has already halted the freeze on federal grants/loans.

Now, we wait to see if it's ignored.

I agree that this will be stopped judicially. It'll just take time to work it's way up, and then to see if SCOTUS tries to keep some veneer of credibility and shoots it down something north of 6-3. The problem lies in how long that will all take and how angry a large majority (hopefully) of the country becomes in the meantime.

I wouldn't put it past them that they're actually hoping this causes widespread protests so they can finally invoke the insurrection act. We might be looking at a tighter timeline than even '30s Germany in that case.

I think if they go the Marshall Law insurrection act route they will discover quickly blue state democrats owns a lot of guns.

Wonder how Greenman and PCGeek feel about the complete disregard of the law, separation of powers and Medicaid freezing by their fuhrer (sp)?

Clearly the American people deserve it or some such. Gotta break a few eggs, etc...
You know it'll be excused. Religion finds a way.

I expect they'll get some to accept it. Mostly those that are due to retire in the next year or so. Not sure there's much incentive for others to go along with it. Outside of SES level at least, but those don't # enough to really make a huge dent.

The "buyout" isn't a buyout. They just exempt you from RTO and performance reviews for 8 months.

Also lol that this has to be Musk because who else would send plain text emails to the entire fed workforce asking for a plain text response. He's gonna do to the Federal Government what he did to Twitter.

In what I've come to know and expect from Trump and Co, everything is stupider and worse than I expected.

What a strange idea. Resigning under this program would be moronic. Note to federal employees: Don't leave your computer unattended for even a few seconds. The opportunities for mischief are epic.
