I just saw that Trump publicly praised his response to the protests in Cali. I think most would agree you shouldn't praise yourself, and it's in pretty poor taste considering how shit in Cali got about 10x worse thanks to him calling in armed troops to deal with what started as mostly peaceful protesting.

Seeing how it's worse than before he got involved, praising yourself for making a situation way worse seems about as Trump as you can get.
You just noticed this phenomenon?

I think it mattered little, doge was the quid pro quo for the 300 million campaign donation...

I think the real question is what the fuck was Elon up to???

I personally think he wanted to gut some of the safety oversight like the NHSTA because he knows his cars are will not pass especially the self driving part

Yesterday, Trump signed a “Presidential Permit” authorizing the construction of a border crossing in Texas. The weird thing is that there is no such thing as a Presidential Permit. The “permit” says that the company building the crossing has to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations so the company has to go through the regular process anyway. Trump’s action is weird political theater.
The performance is always planed. The salesman grifter just keeps going on and on.

I wonder if Trump genuinely believed Elon would find trillions in wasteful spending, and that plus tariffs would be enough to compensate for the tax cuts.

Was it just bullshit campaign promises, or did he actually think this would work out? And if he did genuinely believe trillions would be found, how much of his “strategy” was contingent on that?

I think it was a way to justify massive tax cuts for the rich

Hay look we saved x trillions so we can afford the tax cuts while fucking over everyone else

Political theater keeps MAGAts GOP voters in line as they bathe in golden showers.

There was an opinion in The Atlantic yesterday that suggested the same with the unrest here in L.A. That border policy is one of the few areas Trump is connecting well with Muricans, so whatever happens out west, it works out for him. If it calms down, he'll claim he handled it. Even better, if shit blows up, he'll blame it on the Democrats and illegal aliens.

The only poor outcome would be something like a Kent State incident, but it would have to be much worse.

They don't have to justify shit; they just need to jam it through Congress. One of the hardest parts is already done: getting it through the House where they had a 3 vote margin to spare.

If I'm not mistaken, they're not even trying to satisfy the Byrd rule in the Senate. The GOP has openly stated they will just ignore the Senate Parliamentarian if she says the bill doesn't comply with Senate rules.

With 54 Senators, the GOP is poised to pass a reconciliation bill this summer. The only question is how bad for Americans will it be. I realize Ron Johnson and Rand Paul claim they will block the BBB*, but all they've ever done is cave to DJT so why would we expect otherwise?

* Let's be very clear for people who mis-read the Trump/Elon rift. Clowns like Johnson, Paul, and Musk want even more slash & burn to the federal government. They love the tax cuts, but they want drastic cuts to social welfare. OTOH DJT sees himself as the King of Debt, so he thinks it's way more to prudent electorally to blow up deficits. TBH, Trump is probably right on this narrow issue and I doubt Johnson and Paul will find 3 other Senators to join them. More realistically, they want some concessions in return for their votes.

When you start refusing to notify the govenments of these countries, it could be taken as an act of war, including with our allies.

I'm used to Trump praising himself that's nothing new, but this whole ordeal is playing out horribly. I know Trump isn't known for his brains. But I never thought he'd want to praise himself for this cluterfuck. I expected him to just place the blame on Biden.

This is one of those things you read that, no matter how much you hate this administration, you just can’t take at face value. It almost sounds like the kind of story you plant when you’re either A) trying to out a leaker; B) trying to make the press look like fools; or C) trying to distract from the real story

I fear Starmer will just meekly accept it. Never thought I'd think positively of Thatcher, but at least she told Reagan off for invading Grenada without warning her. I doubt Starmer has that kind of gumption. He comes from that "Atlanticist" tradition of UK centrism, that thinks the US can do no wrong, sees it as the heir to the British Empire...and that is now completely wrong-footed by the rise of Trump.

At least Macron can send his wife over to deal with the sackless nazis that currently run our country.

What, between the red state governors and consolidated food and agribusiness CEOs they couldn’t pony up enough protection money??? Trump is even dumb at running a racket it seems.

Miller wants bodies to deport and he doesn't care where he gets them from.

Omaha's congressional district made the grave error of sending an electoral vote to the Democrats, I'm afraid.

Exactly and that's just one small plant. No one wants to do that kind of work. It's hard and brutal.
American citizens are not going to be standing in line to take that work to "make america great"
Fat bastard has been getting into elmo's stash, if he thinks that.

It's like when they ask people if there should be more manufacturing jobs in American and everybody says yes. Then they ask them if they want to work those jobs and everybody says no. lol.
