Why is it that pretty much everywhere else in the nation refers to the city they are from, yet people from Orange Counry, California call that as their home?

I don't go around saying im from Manatee County Florida......

because everyone knows where it is. if youre from washington dc or manhattan, you dont say district of columbia or new york.

i always say im from northern california.

What kind of crappy example is that? 🙂

Um, we don't usually. People just do because the others have a better idea where "The OC" is because of the show. If I were to say, "I'm from Garden Grove, California," people would be like "Where?" So if you say that you're from the OC, people are realize where you're from...

when people ask where i'm from, I say "San Francisco", even though i'm really in Walnut Creek and part of Contra Costa County. Most people around here do the same. So not only do we not tell them our city, but we dont' even get our county right

Anaheim
Brea
La Habra
La Habra Heights
Yorba Linda
Fullerton
Orange
Santa Ana
Newport Beach
Garden Grove

Not everyone knows where those cities (and more) are at. But as another poster stated, it's all like one big city, anyway...

well orange county was famous before the show. For what reason, I don't know, but I know I knew where orange county was before the OC came on the air.

Like sociallychallenged said... if he told you he was from Garden Grove, what would you say?

i dont' say that because people don't know wtf CCC is. If Orange County wasn't famous, those people would just say "i'm from LA." You find the closest famous thing that people know and that's what you tell them.

How do you say that?

Mult-no-homah?

Just like you say OHRE-GUN!

Got any good pics of your town/area? I've always wanted to go over to Oregon, maybe even move to that area one day.....

well when people say they are from San Diego, alot of people are referring to San Diego county. San Diego county is comprised of so many cities like Chula Vista, National City, La Jolla, Mira Mesa, etc etc etc etc that many others in the country wouldn't know where that is unless they say San Diego
