Add to that: Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, Nellie Gail, etc... go South Orange County! =)
Irvine is overrated.
no... it's not

hot asian girls galore

What about Tustin!?? No one ever knows what the hell I am talking about when I say I am from Tustin.

I don't recall anyone boasting about irvine. Everyone talks about Coto De Caza though. I go to IVC and yeah theres a bunch of hot asians there, but they arent really my type.
well it's not Irvine as a city, it's the fact that UCI is, well in irvine... and UCI = home to hot asian girls.

BTW .... Before the OC got popular I used to tell people I lived near Disneyland (I'm from Fullerton ... which borders Anaheim which is where Disneyland is). When someone says that they are from LA it they mean that they are from LA County (usually). You find the nearest thing that the person knows and tell them that. So if you're from Canada you should tell Americans that you're from Alaska 🙂

well we're not exactly LA, and there is no real central city that we can really be attached to... so we say OC.

BTW, another from YL here... just stuck in KC for the time being.

Irvine is overrated.
It's just the housing prices that make the city overrated. It's still the safest city in all of Orange County. The cops ship the homeless to nearby cities, such as Santa Ana and Costa Mesa, even. 😀

Um, we don't usually. People just do because the others have a better idea where "The OC" is because of the show. If I were to say, "I'm from Garden Grove, California," people would be like "Where?" So if you say that you're from the OC, people are realize where you're from...

I heard it before the show though, people saying they are from Orange County california....
well orange county was famous before the show. For what reason, I don't know, but I know I knew where orange county was before the OC came on the air.

Like sociallychallenged said... if he told you he was from Garden Grove, what would you say?

Yeah, Orange County was very popular for bands that came out of it - also for being one of the largest spawn points of the music genre punk. A lot has been accomplished here. Huntington Beach is the most famous city in Orange County, by far.
