I have only been to Orange county twice. Once to visit my Grandmother and once for her funrel.

man it was a pain getting the stuff out of her house. We still have'nt sold the house either. my parents are trying to decide if they want to keep it. though they will NEVER live out there.

Up here in Northern CA, I consider anything south of Santa Barbara as LA.

Uh. In Ventura (45 min south of SB) we consider everything south of Thousand Oaks LA. 😀

Not everyone knows where those cities (and more) are at. But as another poster stated, it's all like one big city, anyway...

WHAT?! Not everyone knows where YL is??? omg- people need to study their history. Don't you know . . . Richard Nixon was born in YL. w00t- represent. Our pride and joy.

<-- obviously from Yorba Linda.

Its saying your from Southern Cal, but NOT from LA....

Don't ask me... its like trying to explain why one Port-a-Potty is better than the other...

What about Tustin!?? No one ever knows what the hell I am talking about when I say I am from Tustin.

I don't recall anyone boasting about irvine. Everyone talks about Coto De Caza though. I go to IVC and yeah theres a bunch of hot asians there, but they arent really my type.

Since I live in La Mirada and work in Brea, I know exactly where those are... 🙂

I think it's because people who live there don't want to be associated with LA, which is seen as more urban and "worse". Long Island people say Long Island instead of NYC?

For SF Bay area, I think you can refer to it by where you are. South Bay/East bay etc.

After moving to Oregon, I tell people I am from Portland, but if they are dumb I say Oregon and they say oh like the trail.

Better known area = smaller geographical region you identify yourself by.

eh? i know where Tustin is... or at least Tustin Marketplace. In a way, I kind of prefer that fewer people know where we are, as that would prevent a huge influx of people wanting to move here and screw up the serenity and niceness of the area. And IVC is the most chill, yet nicely poised community college around. I love how most of their faculty is retired professors from distinguished universities who've settled down a happy life in the suburbs and teach for the love of it (IVC pays better than most Universities- and it's in Irvine 🙂)

Ed <~ from Laguna Niguel, enjoys taking summerschool classes at IVC =)

when people ask where i'm from, I say "San Francisco", even though i'm really in Walnut Creek and part of Contra Costa County. Most people around here do the same. So not only do we not tell them our city, but we dont' even get our county right

Yea, but you dont go around saying your from "Contra Costa County', see my point? 😀

because people recognize 'orange county' idiot. it's as simple as that.
