Icelake, Tremont, and Zen 2 all have instructions for persistent memory. Now, Optane DIMMs require more than that, but at least we know they have the basics.
The 128GB Optane PMM costs about $600. Not having ECC can boost that capacity to 160GB. This has interesting implications for the future. Let's say the price is cut to $400 for the client version. I think it could work for enthusiasts when Cascade Lake-X arrives.
