It's pretty frightening that Donald Trump is unable to take criticism. Whether it's the SNL skit, another country or the head of the union if you criticize the president you will be on the short end of the stick. So, my question is who can stop Trump if he decides to start throwing people in jail who openly disagree with his actions. Can Trump make it a law that you're not allowed to poke fun at POTUS? Isn't this America? Or, is it Russia? Thailand?

Are we willing to throw away our rights?

WTF?

Trump will still be limited by laws. Your premise is dumb.

Try this thought experiment. Who can stop you if you decide to start killing all puppies?

If he tries, I hope I'm the first. It would inevitably result in a massive law suit, be overturned in record time, and I'd make yuuuuge bank from whatever governmental organization it was that tried to silence me, all the while getting to pretend how brave I am.

The level of insanity existent today is absurd.

No, Trump can't throw people is jail for disagreeing with him, nor can he make a law against "poking fun" at him.

Relax.

I'm just saying.

It's scary. An incoming president who gets peeved at the slightest little criticism. What's going to go down when he is actually POTUS?

Exactly. The world isn't going to end. He's going to make some disappointing policy decisions, including some bad Supreme Court nominees. He'll relax environmental regulations and we'll probably get a small boost to our economy and some moderate job growth, which will bust again in 5-10 years.

Nixon was hyper-paranoid and kept a list of his enemies with hundreds of names in it. At least by early 70s standards he was no more authoritarian than any other president of the post-Great Depression period.

Proof or it didn't happen. Recording of her saying it would be ideal or at minimum sourced from multiple reports.

Back to OP, no that's not going to happen. No Trump can't just make it so.

Nixon also brought back some old traditions like having a guy around to open doors for him, I believe a trumpet player to announce his entry and I think he expected red carpets to be rolled out for him. He wanted to be treated like a King and look how it ended up for him.

BTW I keep a list too, I'm not going to give Nixon crap about that.

Don't worry mai72, this is the United States, we're protected by the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, it's not as if we're some 3rd world shithole like Canada.

If OP was conservative instead of liberal he'd be one of those conservatives that votes Trump out of fear of Hillary confiscating his private property and awarding it to the state.

OP, these posts don't really accomplish anything. Cite some facts or don't post you just come across as slightly crazy. You know like a conservative.

One of the most stupid posts of all time. This is exactly how fake news start and hysteria over nothing. Good job being part of the problem.

Original Post is a serious exaggeration.

What Trump can do and does do with criticism is cause reactions. Boeing lightly criticized Trump's views on trade, Trump tweets about Air Force 1 and Boeing making too much money and Boeing's stocks go down. Carrier union president criticizes Trump's manipulation of the job numbers, Trump tweets about him and now he is getting death threats. This pattern will continue itself as words do matter, and why most presidents used restraint when speaking about all matters, to avoid situations like this. The POTUS is the most influential position in the world perhaps, but Trump loves his go at it alone Twitter method of communicating, and of targeting anyone who criticizes him, due to his very thin skin.

My guess is that he would have as much difficulty going after you for criticism him as a white racists as you would going after him for being one. How could you or he prove that he's actually white?

What's with this recent trend of hysterical stupidity? Unlike many other countries we have reasonable free speech protections.

Yep. Let's not forget that Germany, a supposed leader of the first-world, is currently charging one of their own citizens with a crime for criticizing the leader of another nation.
