Openly Criticize Trump and Face Jail Time?

It's pretty frightening that Donald Trump is unable to take criticism. Whether it's the SNL skit, another country or the head of the union if you criticize the president you will be on the short end of the stick. So, my question is who can stop Trump if he decides to start throwing people in jail who openly disagree with his actions. Can Trump make it a law that you're not allowed to poke fun at POTUS? Isn't this America? Or, is it Russia? Thailand?

Are we willing to throw away our rights?

Exactly. The world isn't going to end. He's going to make some disappointing policy decisions, including some bad Supreme Court nominees. He'll relax environmental regulations and we'll probably get a small boost to our economy and some moderate job growth, which will bust again in 5-10 years.

Nixon was hyper-paranoid and kept a list of his enemies with hundreds of names in it. At least by early 70s standards he was no more authoritarian than any other president of the post-Great Depression period.

Nixon also brought back some old traditions like having a guy around to open doors for him, I believe a trumpet player to announce his entry and I think he expected red carpets to be rolled out for him. He wanted to be treated like a King and look how it ended up for him.

BTW I keep a list too, I'm not going to give Nixon crap about that.

Original Post is a serious exaggeration.

What Trump can do and does do with criticism is cause reactions. Boeing lightly criticized Trump's views on trade, Trump tweets about Air Force 1 and Boeing making too much money and Boeing's stocks go down. Carrier union president criticizes Trump's manipulation of the job numbers, Trump tweets about him and now he is getting death threats. This pattern will continue itself as words do matter, and why most presidents used restraint when speaking about all matters, to avoid situations like this. The POTUS is the most influential position in the world perhaps, but Trump loves his go at it alone Twitter method of communicating, and of targeting anyone who criticizes him, due to his very thin skin.
