Hay should be green. I'm guessing you think the grass looks like straw.
You're right. I forgot my horse sense. I edited the OP.

Even if you never Pray, you will eventually get Rain.
It has been nice and mild here in SoCal all summer along the coast. Still, I don't wish drought or fires on anyone. I know how bad they can be.
Best summer that I can recall here.

Wow. Amazing amount of growth in several hours.
Yeah, and our drought ended this year officially (10 years + I think) thanks to two very rainy winters and the coolest summer in 75 years. This summer has probably been about average although it was very weird today. We had thunderstorms and 90 degree heat. Summer rains are pretty rare for us.Let's us get together and pray for rain, y'all.
I've been wondering if this is the start of another "dust bowl" scenario like in the 1930's.
There's a pretty large area of the country affected by this, much of it agricultural.
California has gone through several droughts in the past 20 or so years, none as severe as what Texas/Oklahoma are getting now.
It's gotta suck to see many places flooding...and you're drying/burning up.

It reached almost 100 in Poway today (where I work). I live by the coast so it is cooler here but fuck it was hot at work today! Of course the A/C unit that feeds my department crapped out at around 2PM so by 4:30 it was over 80 degrees in my office.
I rode the Ducati in this morning and hit some wet roads due to the rain. Weird because it was nice and clear at my house when I left.
We've been staying in the 92-98 range for about a month. Supposed to get to 98-99 tomorrow as well. HOPEFULLY, we'll be dropping back into the 80's pretty soon. Gawd-Damned electric bill is "redickyoulus."
Today was pretty much the warmest day I can recall for the year at least and even stranger because of the rain. I also can't remember the last time when we got a real rain during the summer months. Low to mid 80's is pretty much the norm here in San Diego. Except for Poway, Escondido, Santee, basically any inland areas. They can easily get 10 degrees warmer.
Go ask your Governor to host another prayer vigil. Oh wait, that didn't work last time.
I think that got covered in about 80 of the posts above yours.

Thinking about making a trip down there this weekend with a care package - any suggestions on what to take? I was thinking some easy type food and condiments (bread, sandwich meat, mustard mayo), toilet paper, a bottle opener (and something to open) some dinnerware type stuff...?
He's in some sort of rental house, crammed in with two other families I think. So they have running water and stuff. I'm trying to think of little things that you never realize you need until you don't have it. Swiss army knife is a good idea... maybe a leatherman thingy? Towels.. heck, maybe a book or three. That sucks. Not sure what to take. Bottle of wine, bottle of scotch, case of beer, and a Swiss army knife would be cool. I might be unusual, but I think MREs are damned good. If you can find some of those, it would make good portable food for him.
Austin averages 33 inches and we are under 7 inches for the year.

Does he have kids? If so, something to keep them occupied would be the most valuable thing you could give him. A DS and some games would go a long way towards keeping a child's mind off problems.
