I would not have left. I would have let the cops come and sort it out. That sure sounds like (or is close to) theft by a fry's associate.

Wow, that pissed me off just reading about what happened to you. I don't live near a Fry's but I will never shop there.

Yea, because all Fry's location are gonna do the same thing huh? What happened to the OP is rather unfortunate, but thats an issue with the customer service at that one location. Several of us have no qualms at the Fry's we shop at, as a matter of fact some of us take "advantage" of their return policy. He simply should have just brought it to another location and get his money back.

Why should he deal with the trouble when it is clearly not his fault, but rather Fry's?

You should have let the police come so you could let them know what happened. That might have helped to resolve the situation.

YES. NEVER EVER buy stuff at Fry's with cash. It's always too risky. Pay with credit card since you always have Visa or Mastarcard to back you up.

I use FRY's as a price compariosn for other retailers. 9/10 times they will match or beat the price.
The upshot, I never have to deal with anyone there and I still get their pricing, at a more reputable retailer.

Someone who is rather close to me works for Fry's (she was a CS supervisor until recently) and worked at the Webster location, the customer service management there is rude and incompotent, try taking your green sheet to the store on 59@ 610 in Sugarland, much better staff there, even if the store is in a worse part of town.
Also as others have stated that green sheet is basicaly a gift certificate, good at any fry's store. Simply go in and say you want to cash it out. They should oblige without any hassle at all.

hey i resent that! ;)
Irish Slums?

Oh downtown Sugarland is nice enough, but the area the fry's is in is farking GHETTO.

The board didn't go back to the manufacturer, it went back on the store shelves. In fact, if you do buy, go get the ones that have the white stickers that have marked down prices if it's a good difference. The white stickers basically mean that someone bought something, returned it in working order and now they are selling it at a markdown. If it doesn't work, you just return it and they RMA it.

You were dealing with a horrible manager, just come back later and get it done. And if they have your phone # on file, then that means your name in their system is mispelled. And Fry's is smart to track serial numbers, makes sure people aren't swtiching products when they return them.

My last name has been MISPELLED FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS in the frys data base. Its not one letter its 3 letters. My listed address is one that is different from my license. Of the 3 times I returned something they never checked for my DL.

Most Fry's employees don't give a rats ass. A friend in college wanted to prove a point (used this for his sociology project) bought a carefully peeled the mobo serial sticker and stuck it on completely different mobo. Apparently they do check serial numbers but don't check the manufacturer.

About 7 years ago I knew some guys that worked at Frys who where lying thieves. To make a long story short they filled a huge meat freezer with as much as goods as they could get away with and wrapped it back up. Then they had a friend come by and buy that same freezer model. Guess who helped the "customer" get and load the freezer onto their car.

nice to hear it ended well. Sucks you had to go through that.
The one in Anaheim can be a pain. I learned to inspect the cpu pins in front of the cashier.

There aren't any Fry's around me, but it sounds identical to Best Buy.

I got really bad customer service at BB until I recently informed my company's BB account rep and he got everything straightened out and suddenly everyone was really nice to me.

damn, your fry's experience sucks as ****, I have been going to Fry's alot but pretty much only use CC, so when I have to do returns, it go directly back to my card. In fact I will be heading there to see if I have anything to buy today, I guess not then.

I worked at that exact Fry's store for about 3 months, back in 2004 or whenever it was they opened. This story doesn't suprise me at all. Sorry to hear about what they put you through :(

All the managers at the store seemed sketchy to me and made the work enviornment horrible.

There you have it, straight from the horse's mouth. Those folks are scum, I can tell you that. They treat all of their own employees as well as their customers as "potential thieves" until proven otherwise. Avoid this place like the plague.

When I built my first computer (with components from Fry's), I smeared way too much thermal paste on Athlon 2400+ t-bred B (way proud of that baby), and fried it. When I took it in, the tech who helped me out gave me a new cpu, no hassles whatsoever. I guess it just depends on who you deal with, which doesn't say a lot for the company.

Here's to keeping this months old rant alive...

It's unclear to me. Did the OP pay by cash or CC? And did he ever get a refund?

I've never had a problem with a return at Fry's and if I ever had one, a dispute with my CC company would set things right.
