In this case it describes the destructiveness of Republican alternative reality thinking to a tee. Take a read and see what you think? Are you one of the deluded. I am always fascinated by folk who have been persuaded to believe what are obviously illusions. I wouldn't really care that conservative thinking is the result of brain defects if they didn't threaten to drag the rest of us into catastrophe. It's like allowing a drunk to drive. Everybody would like to cure alcoholism except, of course, the alcoholic. So here is some truth; lets watch the denial:

Truth?
"present a vision that's largely disconnected from -- even denies -- facts and realities about today's world."

He thinks that but gives our President a free ride when he scolds business owners like a 3 year old "You didn't build that"

How about the party that passed the largest piece of legislation in the history of the US that thew majority of the people didn't even want? - Ya, we're the ones out of touch with reality.

Didn't have the attention span to make it past the second paragraph?

"Now, more than ever, it's true that "nothing comes from nothing." Creating success for oneself is inseparable from individual actions and public policies that promote security, opportunity for growth of competencies, physical and mental well-being, and a sustainable environment for future generations. Success means contribution to all of those things."

It was from Huffingtonpost. Typically by the second paragraph I have heard enough lies and this one was no different.

The article is just more blame shifting to the right. Nearly four years into his term and the Obama administration has broken records set during the great depression. Still, it's the fault of everyone but themselves. It's childish behavior that has long since grown tiresome. Detroit has had Democrat mayors for 50 years and they still blame everything on the right. A scapegoat of convenience.

The article is just another documentation of the fears of the left. Fears that their policies don't work and that the public may one day figure that out. But fear not I say. Obama has succeeded in getting many, many more people on the government dole. The turning point is near. A win by Obama, with another four years will put us way over the 50% threshold of government dependence and the milk and honey will begin to flow. The brass ring is within reach. The fundamental transformation has got a great foothold and four more years of him will pretty much finish the job. And if it doesn't work, there's always the right to blame. Politics is a fun game. There are casualties though.

The only people out of touch with reality are the ones who believe that ANY career politician, regardless of party affiliation, will serve their best interests.

They're ALL crooks, cheats, swindlers and liars. They want to stay in office for one reason, and that's power over YOU.

Idk about brain defects, but the complete banishment of critical thinking is disturbing. (as already demonstrated)

It would be one thing if their ideas were based on a competing but fair assessment of facts, but that brand died out decades ago. Instead a class of impenetrable zombie soldiers fighting for zombie ideas has taken over to which the normal weapons of facts and reason are useless.

Just how many homophobic ranters are actually closet gays, Moonbeam is actually a closet Republican. It's time to step out of the closet Moonie! Time to reveal that you are secretly a conservative Republican to the rest of the world. You can cease these false and petty denials of who you really are, you aren't convincing anyone with these pathetically weak posts. Step out of the political closet and revel in the power of exposing your true conservative feelings!

This. The right used to have an intellectual core. As this old guard died off and the party lurched even more to the right, critical thinking skills were abandoned. This is why many moderates/independents no longer consider the Republicans to be a viable party instead of a bunch of raving lunatics.

That explains it. I understand your ambivalence against the source, but if the thread is based upon that source exclusively, you should read it. You should never judge an article or book by its first two paragraphs....unless that book is Atlas Shrugged, of course. ;)

Unless they get off this wacky Ultra-Chritianist, anti-science, anti-intellectual binge they''ve been on, they are doomed in the long run thanks to demographics.

I expect the vast majority of the deniers won't even click the link before replying. It's the staple of the modern day GOP Internet fanboi. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This is what they are selling again. Let's see who is still buying...

Dear Matt, I know you are upset. You whole world view is a delusion and it hurts to find that out. But I am somebody who was forced to do to his most treasured beliefs because my Mother told me to be honest and I took it literally. I acquired a capacity to think critically and that destroyed everything I had previously been taught to believe. And all in all, although I don't have the same self flattering delusions that I once did, I am basically much better off. I can look at the world bias free because I suffered everything they were there to keep me from feeling.

For these reasons and others, unlike you, I don't swallow garbage hook line and sinker. For example, it is really you who thinks like a 3 yr old when you speak of Obama. Everybody with a thinking brain who is aware of what Obama really said knows that what he said you didn't build was not the business but the infrastructure without which one could not have built such a business. Your profound gullibility and sieve open brain is the result of you bias that you do not what to see. You willingly swallow bull shit because it makes you feel good. You lack the inner honesty of which I spoke.

This is why it is very important for you to challenge yourself and read the article I posted. It describes you to a tee.

As to health care, everybody who is informed and can think also knows that while the bill is unpopular, a majority of people like what is in the bill itself. They think the bill is something different than the things they like in it. This is of course due to asshole conservative propaganda which you swallow willingly, having never learned to be honest and think. But it's never too late to learn, no?

And remember, all the things I was sure were true that made me believe in the delusions you still believe in, the feeling that the truth is good, I only lost briefly. Now I no longer believe that life is good. I know it. It is a truth that is and depends on nothing else being true. It's safe to grow up. Good luck to you. I see your inner worth even if you can't.

boomerang: The article is just more blame shifting to the right.

M: Every person who feels guilty of something but can't face the pain of it projects out on the world the feeling that somebody or something is out to get him, to blame him, to make him feel the shame he hides. And around this great armor in the form of rationalizations are erected. This is what you have done here, created a false reality. You fit the article to a tee.

b: The article is just another documentation of the fears of the left. There are casualties though.

M: Let us hole that one of the casualties is your own fear that you see out there.

As I said to Matt, your delusions are there to protect you from pain. The result is that you live in a state of denial. I went through just such pain and am fine today, much better than when I projected my anxieties at every shadow. Again, it is safe to grow up.

Politics is the art of the possible and what is possible under the current structure is that the rich buy who is in office. The politicians reflect those who sent them there.

The article was very serious and quite deep. We do know that is therapy the patient must rant and work off some of the anger before he can sit still and begin to reflect on the fact that there are events in ones past that created the anger. It's like lancing a boil before it will heal. Your shit is always welcome with me because I see it as fertilizer for our garden. Dump as much as you like and if you feel better go and try to digest what was in the article. I think it will make your poop even sweeter. And don't lose hope. The rose blooms on an ugly bush of thorns. Everything is what it is because of attitude.

Well you are right about one thing, you don't swallow garbage. Too much of it comes out of your mouth for you to ever swallow it.

Ya gotta love how you try to blame the hatred of Obamacare on the Conservatives. If you like anything about the bill it's because of what's in it, if there is anything you don't like about the bill it's because of asshole Conservatives. You are pathetic.

I am always going to be pathetic in your eyes because you see out of pathetic eyes. As I told boomer, your delusions that I am blaming something arise our of your feelings of guilt. I am free and happy. I don't need to blame anybody for anything. But because I am free of the bias you are possessed by I can see. Part of being able to see is knowing cause and effect. It is republican propaganda that creates all the negativity about the health care act. That's just how it is and explains why people like what is in the bill but don't like the bill itself because they have been made ignorant. That ignorance is in part Obama's fault. He did a shit poor job of selling it.

I am glad, however, that you voice your paranoid concerns. They need to come out before you can begin to address them. Think of yourself as a wild animal caught in a trap reacting as a wild animal would to somebody who comes along to free them. I know how you are. I was the same. Try to get through the article. I have faith that the truth is the truth and will work on you unconsciously. Try on your next post to take some point in the article and tell me how it applies to you. Trust me, it's all about how you are. You fight to stay in your trap because of ignorance. Try to learn something.

Give it up pal. This is an opinion piecefrom a commentator and you are swallowing it as the un-deniable truth.

I will thank you for insisting I read the whole article. It did make me read the biggest pile of horse shit I have read in a while and made for a good laugh.

Meanwhile, in the political arena, we're witnessing the clash of two visions: one that pulls towards the old extraction-oriented, self-serving way of life that produces "winners" and "losers;" the other, towards behavior and policies that promote successful, sustainable lives and resources for the many, and positive interconnection with others, through tolerance and acceptance of the differences among people on our planet.

Willful ignorance and cult like tribalism are these folks protections from the big scary world when they lack the tools of critical thinking

Showing them reality just puts them into la la la fingers-in-the-ears siege mode.

They will never get far in life personally. Some folks are just fine being ignorant, some folks drink themselves to death for the same reasons.

Dunno what is worse long term though, the junkie escaping with heroin or the TV politics cult

There seems to be a threshold when some people are too lost and have this crap wrapped into their egos.

Yes, it's sad.

It still amazes me to see folks vote against their own best interests.

The facts are laid bare for all to see irt what the Repub agenda has been, especially over the last fifty years where the tax code has been corrupted heavily in favor of the financial elite, where deregulation in the name of higher and higher profit irregardless of harm is pursued with a vengeance, where weakening the government to strengthen the control the rich and powerful have over it and where the total elimination of the ever diminishing power the middle class have over its elected officials is a priority of the highest order for the party leaders.

Yet, I bear witness to the complete disregard many conservative middle class and poor folks exhibit to these debilitating forces that work against them. To my utter amazement, these same folks rail against how much money "big bloated government" is wasting on excessive spending while expressing concern over losing their gov't paid pensions, health care and SS benefits and gladly take any increases in benefits they can get.

This behavior expresses the sheer irony this situation creates wherein these folks possess the ideology and profit oriented goals of the rich, yet must rely on their government handouts to satisfy the tenets of said ideology and "profit" driven goals. To these folks, it's just fine and dandy to think that way. Again, simply amazing.

To top it all off, the rich and powerful rely on just this kind of blind faith and ignorance to keep on robbing from the poor and giving to the rich. They're laughing all the way to the bank and the victims are laughing right along with them.

But, hey, it's all good because the believers are devout and resolute to "their" cause, no matter what. Yikes!

Another article "proving" how inferior conservative thinking is, posted by the stalwart bastion of clear concise logic, moonbeam.
We all know that moonie posts this stuff because he hates himself, and because he hates himself, he hates others as well.
Self hate folks, it's the heart and soul of liberal thinking.
