Once again this election will prove racism is a white Republican problem. 2008, 2012 and now 2020

I posted this question during the 2008 Presidential campaign. Find one elected black Democrat who disparaged John McCain solely on the basis of being white. Know how many were found? ZERO. I did the same thing for Romney in 2012 again ZERO. I don't have to review all disparaging racist things Republicans said about Obama, too many of them

Now in 2020 Republicans are starting their racist tripe against Kamala Harris. First with birtherism second with a Republican mayor calling her Aunt Jemima.

I'll ask the same question, find ANY elected black Democrat who disparages Trump solely on the basis of being white. The racist attacks against Harris from conservative white Republicans will continue and the rest of the Republicans will fail to condone these attacks.

We'll keep the list of the racist attacks by elected white Republicans against Harris solely for being black here.
We'll also keep the list of the racist attacks by elected black Democrats against Trump solely for being white here as well.

This also includes official campaign surrogates and PACs.

CURRENT SCORE

Harris - 2
Trump - 0

Personally I dont think the birtherism thing is about race so much as it is about not liking her political views. Have you found ANY elected Republicans quoted as saying she cant serve because she's black?

But then, when youre a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

If it wasn't about race and Republicans were genuinely concerned about real questionable citizenships why no questions about John McCain. He wasn't born in the United States but in the Panama Canal Zone.

And how does not liking ones political views translate into delegitimizing the citizenships of both Obama and Harris??? Remember Obama being labeled as a dark secret Kenyan Muslim interloper?

The only 2 black people to ascend and possibly ascend to the levels of the White House out of over 200 candidates. Are you telling me this is a big fat sloppy wet coincidence?

don't forget Cruz, he has, or at least had, dual citizenship if i remember correct. do you think if he ran for prez the right would go after him in the same way?

I have not seen an elected republican saying she cant serve cuz she's black.

But I am betting we will find something on the internet if we look hard enough. Sometime soon.

To be fair, I do recall a candidate Trump trying the birther angle of attack on Ted Cruz. But never to the degree he did it with Obama.

Or Ted Cruz if I recall.

Barr is already race-baiting by suing colleges for discriminating against whites and Asians, trying to divide the people along racial lines.

Of course it's about race, no denying it. Biden, Clinton, anyone white, etc have never been hounded by birtherism.

Yes that’s why so many on democratic side who are concerned about Trumps politics have taken to speaking out about Trumps birth like this:

oh wait. No they haven’t.

Because people who aren’t racist don’t launch conspiracy theories about foreign births of politicians they disagree with. They attack their policies and behaviors.

When I heard Trump flapping his gums about Harris and the birther thing, I can't say I was shocked... Or surprised... Or disappointed...or... Actually I'm not sure what my point is here.

Can you name a white candidate who has been attacked in this way?
Whiteness isn’t a distinguishing feature of white candidates, so that is not an aspect of their identity that falls under scrutiny or attack.

McCain faced attacks over his age and mental facilities, with his POW experience open to political jabs and attacks.

Romney similarly faced attacks over his ties to the Mormon church.

Hillary Clinton used similar dog whistles against Obama when she ran against him for the nomination. Ferraro’s comments and the photo of Obama in Somali garb come to mind.

The only difference now is where politicians in the past used surrogates so they could claim plausible deniability, Trump just brazenly says offensive things, and in the case of birtherism, openly spreads racist political attacks.

you can't be serious with this argument. A fricking 3rd grader understands how this works. Here, let's have Lee Atwater explain to you how it works, again, dumdum.

That dude is one of the primary architects of this, and the GOP and people like you, are the result of this type of targeted brainfucking. It isn't any other way. It's exactly why you fundamentally believed, your entire life, that "Anchor Baby" was a legitimate term, and in no way offensive. Your people and sources have deliberately filled your brain with shit and withheld exposure to any kind of honest information.

This really isn't a point of debate. It is actually what is going on when you say things like "You need someone to actually say they disapprove of x because of their color, for it to be true!" That is fundamentally untrue, and bullshit thoughts like that can only exist if your education has been fundamentally compromised.

I was educated in the south, as well. I managed to unfuck most of myself, particularly when it comes to what we were and, apparently still are, taught about the confederacy, slavery, and the Civil War.

People are divided among racial lines, when you make policy based on the color of their skin.

i call bullshit, we don't have drug laws that address race, yet the systemic racism in our legal system doesn't treat everyone equally.

reality is that in order to achieve equality for all, those who have haven't been treated with such equality for many generations have to be brought up to a level of equality.

In this case two wrongs do not make it right.

Reality is, that if you make policy based on skin color - you will earn resentment at best, or open rebellion at worse. You can achieve the goal of lifting up the downtrodden without racist policy. Basic Income, for example, would literally be reparations for so long as Blacks are poorer than Whites. But if the policy is color blind than it won't be divisive. You do not have to aim for failure by countering racism with racism - especially in how it is advertised.
