Just imagine being him, in that building at the time. Feeling hopeless and unexpectedly having the rooftop falling on you while on the phone. Pretty horrific just to think of it :(

EVERYONE is ready to die. Death differentiates between no one. We can all disagree on whatever we like except this one fact of life ... death. Oxymoron? Far from it.

Um, do you have trouble TRYING to understand what I was conveying?
Did you listen to the transcript and feel what Kevin felt, how he wasn't ready to give up given the dire consequences?
Did you or did you not???
You're name suits you completely.:disgust:

Stop lecturing in this thread- it's inappropriate.

Hey no one is ever "ready" to die. Not even a hundred-year old on his death bed ... but the fact is that we are all going to anyway.

Sorry if it came across as pretentious but I guess I have a different viewpoint of the world.

To be honest, though, I am a little angry at the fact that an American life is viewed as more sacred than an Iraqi. You can lecture me all you want about keeping politics out of this thread but the fact is that the victims of "shock and awe" and "Operation al-Fajr" didn't exactly die a peaceful death either. I just feel frustrated that Iraq has descended into such a mess now that no one even cares what some of those people go through daily ... the recruits who literally get blown to shreds lining up outside the employers' offices for example.

Edit: This is relevant because it was used as partial justification for Iraq and these exact emotions were played on by the Bush administration.

Yes yes, but I don't think this is the right thread for that. On a side note, to address your post, the men that did the attack purposely did so in in effort to kill as many possible.

Sorry for that bit of politics. I hope we will leave politics out of this one.

Nah, more like Mr Bush and company wants their oil.

Hahaha, you're a moron. THERE IS NO OIL IN AFGHANISTAN...and in Iraq, it's not the monitary cost of our troops being there to take the oil. So, you mr. liberal know it all, are completely wrong.

Actually thats why Canada is in Afghanistan... I dont even know if the US has had any activity there other then a few special ops forces since the end of 2001 or early 2002.

This is why 4 Canadian soldiers were killed over the weekend. Thank them and their families.

This is NOT why the U.S. is occupying Iraq. Thats a whole 'nother agenda but I'll leave it at that as this is not P&N.

YOU ARE WRONG! I personally know several hundred people from my old battalion, the 3/116th FA that have been there for over a year and won't be back until August of this year.

He didn't even say anything about oil in Afghanistan, however there is PLENTY of Opium there. Bush does want his oil though and war is a big business that pulls in a lot of money, but let's not get political in this thread. Nice job calling people morons when you can't even comprehend their posts, so stop trying to start a flamewar by saying people are wrong and calling them names.

That was one of the most chilling things i have ever seen! Why hasn't this been played before?

I watched this and I couldn't help but get emotional and just cry for these people. What a horrible death. It only makes me angry every time I see this stuff over and over again.

It brings back memories of the panic I had for my children, when I was at work and all this started happening. The schools were calling the parents and everyone was taking their kids out of school. At the time myself and the ladies at my office thought that a war had started we just had no idea...

I took off in a panic to the elementary school to pick up my kids. When I got to the school their were hundreds of panicked parents looking for their kids.

After finally getting my kids and racing back home. I watched it all on TV. I was in total shock, and just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Let us remember that these A**holes are still out there preaching their holy war on us and any other westernized country.

Even if we did retreat from Iraqi soil, do you think stuff like this would stop? I don't think so...

I think the terrorists will keep on doing what they do, and we will see more tradgedy like this in the future.

Makes me ill to even think about it...

Thats right, and anyone that can say both are a mistake and listen to that without feeling anything and still think we shouldn't be there. in my mind are close to the same kind of people that caused this.

very chilling 911 call. like others have said, damn

Iraq had nothing, whatsoever, even in the most indirect sense, to do with 9/11. I am an Operating Enduring Freedom vet and I was proud to serve in a combat zone in prosecution of the war in Afghanistan. That said, I'd say the people who use the rage they feel at a tape like this to rationalize an offensive war with a completely unrelated country are closer to the people who caused this than any anti-war true believer.

This tape is really awful, heartbreaking actually. RIP, Mr. Cosgrove.

Okay, I've ingnored all the flames to this point, but calling me something close to a terrorist gets me. The reason we are in Iraq is a part of the War on Terror. Good Intel, bad intel, we are there for the same reason initially as Afghanistan. Yes serious mistakes have been made, yes we shouldn't have invaded in retrospect, but we're there, and if we pull out and the insurgents win, terrorism morale will spike off the scale, as will attacks on the US. Regardless of the initial causes, we are now fighting Al-Queada in Iraq, as well as other militant groups. It is now a true part of the war on terror.

Way to think with your emotions. On the same level as an animal.

At least I'm enlightened enough to know that flaming people with logically invalid arguments is worthless. That video reinfroced my convictions. Nothing more.

terror we helped cause.
Al Qaeda in Iraq.. yeah.. we need 100,000 troops to do it?
The number of Al Qaeda in Iraq is not even significant.

Insurgents are people fighting troops on a foreign land. They were never going to come to the U.S and fight us here.

Have you not heard of Zarkawi? (Spelling?) No the insurgents themselves will not come here, but they will sure as hell get others to come here in their place. Al-Queada's numbers may be negligible, but they're not looking to destroy us. They want to push us out of Iraq, and are manipulating the insurgents to do it. The insurgency is spread across Iraq, so yes we do need 100,000 troops to do it.

Edited for spelling
