Anyone who ordered from the Apple store, can you chime in about how long it took for your order to ship (or if it even has yet)?

I placed my order a couple days back, still processing. Est. ship date of 9/16 :(

it will take time for you to gain its trust back.

i contemplated one...but with the XM i dont really have any use for it.

heh, know what your saying though it's is still nice to have your own music collection. The day they come out with a music player that's got a fairly large capacity (larger than mine), FM and XM satellite radio, then I will buy it. Until they come out with all those features I listed above, I'm sticking with my cellphone

4GB's just isn't enough... when they get to 20 or 40 gb models (might be a while) that's when I'll bite the bullet and get one...

I wish apple had a referral program :(

Topic Title: OMG i got to play with a MYSELF in the shop today :)

Once again everyone else in the industry is on the backfoot, it rocks...a lot smaller than it looks in the pics, but the head is extremely impressive, crisp, purple and pro-looking :)

I want a black one

I was gonna make this parody, but meh :p

Thats probably because they don't know better, just because you can do calculus equations with out a calculator, doesn't mean they know better about technology and are looking for best bang for $.
It's STATUS to own Apple products
and that's always for good valid reasons. If it's easy to use, you don't waste time on operating it, you enjoy what it does best. These "sophisticated people" have little to no time fiddling with accessories.

Status? Ha, if you want status walk around with your cellphone listening to music. Listening to music with your cellphone is going to attact a lot more people than a stupid ipod which everybody has. Everytime I walk around, I'm greeted and ask if I'm listening to music on my phone, I pleasantly tell them that I am.

My friends are still impressed by the fact that I have a fairly large collection on my phone and the fact that I can watch movies on there, play real games, surf the web normally, and having other utilities on there as well. All I had to pay to get the 1GB capacity was $74 on ebay for the memory card which is MINI SD. Pretty good to be able to get 1GB capacity in such a small card.

I ordered from the Apple store Thursday night and it got shipped Friday. It showed 1-3 day shipping when I ordered. I had originally placed my order with Amazon on Wednesday but Amazon was showing November ship date so I canceled that order and went with Apple Store even though they charge tax. MacMall has 4gig white and black Nano for $244 and has free shipping and FM transmitter after rebate. Showing in-stock and 1 day shipping. Might try there.

I just also got my confirmation that my 20gig iPod from Amazon also shipped so it looks like I'm set. 20gig for the road and 4gig for workout and activities.

The nano is badass, I must admit. Its super thin, has an awesome screen, and is to the flash based mp3 player as black men are to the penis. Still, I don't want to install iTunes, I want an FM reciever built in, I want better battery life, and I don't want to pay the price of what my kidney would go for on the black market for it. I'll wait for some of the nice 1gb flash players to drop in price maybe, or maybe I'll wait for the nano copies. Or maybe I'll cave and get the nano. Or maybe I'll continue not getting an mp3 player like I have for the past 4 years because every 4 months a newer, more expensive, better one comes out.

listening to music on your cellphone is stupid unless you use it so little theres no risk of draining the battery. cellphone is also an emergency device, using it frivolously is just meh.

yeah, i'd be a little worried about my cell phone being dead at the end of the day from listening to music, games, etc.

whoever says this is overpriced is out of their mind. these players are flash based and since samsung gives apple close to a 50% discount on flash based memory i dont see any competition matching them anytime soon.

even iriver(a korean company) is not happy with samsung(another korean company) for giving apple such a big discount.

Was that an engraved one? I opted for engraving, so maybe that's why mine is taking so damn long.

so you are basically saying that because i choose to never own a iPod, a laptop of any kind a fancy cell phone and a PDA that im never going to get anywhere in life?

Got it. Yeah they had the non-engraved ones in stock at my Apple store on Friday. The engraved ones are being shipped from China.

Meh, its nice but hell I've had a MPIO mp3 player around that size for 2 years at least. It has FM, recorder, FM recorder, 256mb internal and a SD card slot that can take up to 1GB. The benefit of this new ipod is the color lcd for pics and that it can be used for file transfers like a regular ol usb key (using the cable adapter or whatever I guess).

Sounds like an enviroment I wouldn't want to be part of. A life driven by status is about as shallow as it can get.

It seems like a good value price-wise to me. My only reserveration would be the non-replaceable battery, but then it probably would be obslete before the battery would run out of usable cycles.

An APPLE iPOD! That's right. I've never seen any of these top Harvard grads using anything other than an iPOD. It's STATUS to own Apple products and that's always for good valid reasons. If it's a pain in the ass to use, it's not even worth a penny. The price difference is just not enough to justify inconveniences as well as losing face value in using "outsider" products. I used to think otherwise but from experience, I can guarantee you that people will look at you differently. And that alone can make a product much more enjoyable to use.

I would definitely get the IPOD (any of the IPOD actually) when Apple releases one with FM tuner. It gives a bit of variety to my music. Will we ever see these in newer IPODS (or firmware updates if applicable)?:

(1) FM tuner
(2) WMA support (I really don't this one)

Probably getting myself a Zen Sleek. Very cool, but that nano looks so tempting. It's a tradeoff between 4GB and 20GB for something that small & appealing.
