How about the 50" Sanyo plasma for $999? Is that a good deal? Any reviews available on that model which I assume is the DP50747.

Will other stores -- like BB and Circuit City pricematch on this? How do they work?

I think they have fine print that excludes special sales, open items, one time buys, etc...
But can;t hurt to try... with a coupon to boot. :)

Rumors on other deal sites are saying that this box is going to have a very specific SKU/bar code and most places will likely not PM it. So I'd say YMMV and if you can't get one at Wal-Mart, then it wouldn't hurt to try a PM elsewhere.

Hmmm...not on disply yet at Bloomington, MN store. I talked to the Store Mgr and he claims that he has 26 and the will sell for $198 NOT $98 but he also said that's what he received them at. No telling what they will ring out at 8:00 am tomorrow. :(

I can't decide between this deal (which qualifies for the mail in rebate for 5 free HDDVDs), or paying $55 more at buy.com for the 360 HDDVD drive + Heroes on HDDVD, which I could also use on my PC and would already be hooked up to the only optical jack on my surround sound system. And would also not need me to keep track of yet another remote.

How is the quality difference between the standalone player and the HD-DVD drive on a PC?

Does your PC have an HDDVD drive? I wasn't aware that many do yet.

And the quality would probably depend on your computers specs, and the monitor you were using (of course, the TV you hook this up to would also affect the quality)

Guess I can stop by Walmart tomorrow and check it out. For $99 I'll dip my feet finally into the high definition realm

Is there anything stopping us from trying to buy this today and just getting a price adjustment tomorrow since the price is now lower than it was when we bought it?

Nope.

Worst case scenario, you return it if they're asshats about it. Most Walmart return clerks just don't care though. I know somebody who returned some plants that died - 3 months after she bought them.

Most probable don;t know. Right NOW its $198, so calling will do no good unless you want to know what the price is now.

OMFGWTFBBQ SO HOT!

I thought $170 for a HD-A3 was hot, but $98 for a HD-A2?

I reiterate my previous post: HD-DVD wins :D

OK, so I just called CC, and they would supposedly price match the BB price. There is one location that has them in stock, so I am going there after work.

With the 110% PM from circuit city, this turns out as:

99.99 - (197.99 - 99.99) = $90.19 at CC pricematched to BB. Best part is, this will work today.

Actually its 10% of the difference. So only a dollar off. And you have to ask for it or they will just give you the same price. not that thats a bad thing. ;)

Where did you learn math at;) The 10% of the difference between 197.99 and 99.99 is $9.80.

The difference is $100 so 10% is $10.
