I think I can the dying ecosystem in that rooster tail. 😉
Contrarily, it probably does more good than bad since the jet action oxygenates the body of water.

A jet doesn't go nearly as deep as a propeller driven craft - ignoring exotic surface piercing setups. Few, if any, manatees would die if everyone used jets.

I'm pretty sure that's not a jet...

Every time that I see Oldsmoboat's user name, I recall an old station wagon that was parked in Boston and painted a flat Navy gray with a white '109' stenciled on both front fenders.

How can you tell - can you see the outdrive? Have ever been in one? Did you know that seadoo/wave-runner personal watercraft use a jet?

I'm probably one of the few on here who's old enough to remember when Oldsmoboat was just another name for Oldsmobile...because they made cars that were big enough to be boats...and they handled like one. 😛

I always though it was this...

Actually, the reason I said that was I didn't think there were any full-sized jet boats that old, but I see that I'm mistaken.

Ok - although, my second post was kind of a clue.

I'll trade you a MarioKart for the boat.
oldsmoboat: I seem to remember reading that you sold it quite a bit ago, correct? Parts for the jet and fuel for the 455 would be very expensive and hard to find now. I had a friend who got one in '95 - for a good deal. The first time something broke, he had to bend way over to get it running so he could sell it.

Sold it about 2 years ago. I thought about changing my user name byt then oldsmoboat's law wouldn't have the same ring to it.

 Yeah, but in a straight line they were smooth.

Heh-heh...yeah they were. More or less a poor-man's Cadillac.

My step-dad's uncle bought a brand new Olds 98 every year. It was rare that he got 12,000 miles on the odometer before he traded it in.

(for youse youngsters, all auto warranties used to be 12 months/12,000 miles)

my grandma had an oldsmobile.
it was a boat.

That's what I always thought of when I first discovered oldsmoboat on ATOT, then I learned he had a boat.
This thread has updated that knowledge by adding that the boat has an Olds engine in it. 🙂

Crap! I want the engine. My Olds has the 307 but the 455 would be pretty much a bolt on.

I had a pale yellow 1971 Olds Delta 88 Royale convertible with white top and a 455.

No canyon carver or quarter miler, it was a sweet, stately 20 footer, a cruiser, and purty.
