Contrarily, it probably does more good than bad since the jet action oxygenates the body of water.

A jet doesn't go nearly as deep as a propeller driven craft - ignoring exotic surface piercing setups. Few, if any, manatees would die if everyone used jets.

Contrarily, it probably does more good than bad since the jet action oxygenates the body of water.

Plus it's a four stroke engine so it's not pumping oil into the water.
 
I'm probably one of the few on here who's old enough to remember when Oldsmoboat was just another name for Oldsmobile...because they made cars that were big enough to be boats...and they handled like one. 😛

Heh-heh...yeah they were. More or less a poor-man's Cadillac.

My step-dad's uncle bought a brand new Olds 98 every year. It was rare that he got 12,000 miles on the odometer before he traded it in.

(for youse youngsters, all auto warranties used to be 12 months/12,000 miles)

Parents had a few of them along with electras and bonnevilles although they kept them 2-3 years. This was funny since the old man declared with each purchase that he was going to drive it >100k miles. They always had gm's, but for some reason snubbed chevy's. This seemed ignorant to me in the late 60s in light of the magnificent chevelle's and camaro's. I remember my mom would occasionally take them up to a 100 mph for a minute or two - "to burn out the carbon".

I started out with a 3rd hand 4-door, two speed auto, `66 cutlass supreme - a poor excuse for an automobile. One of nicest for the era that I drove was a `73 2-door bonneville - another retread. It was kind of boaty but it could kinda corner (with aftermarket shocks) and it could do 120mph according to the speedo.
