Old timers, where are you going once this site goes?

Agreed.

I am on a couple Ducati forums but you might see one or two posts there per day during the winter months and I have less than 500 posts on them despite being a member there since 2008. This place is the only place I keep coming back to.

I'll miss you all... well, most of you anyway. 😛

same here. this is not the only forum I go to but the level of retardation here is far lower than the intarwebs average and a lot of the discussions here are actually pretty interesting to me.

......Take the spicy out of the chili and all you got is hamburger helper.

I was on before my join date lurking, think I had one post about a VIA chip set eons ago but lost my PW and ID and had to re-register. You think that is what part of the lul? It did seem a lot busier when I lurked as you said you could stay entertained just by hitting refresh.

This place is already half dead and I would be shocked if it lasted another 5 years. The average poster age continues to go up and people naturally have less time as they age.

When it finally goes I'm sure I'll find another niche section of the internet somewhere. There will always be a place for decent discussion, though it may not be with the same community.

If all else fails there are always places like ****.

One of the main differences is all the sub-forums.

AT is my homepage on my laptop, my phone and my Ipad. Been coming here for 15 years and would probably stop posting on any forums should this cease. As a matter of fact, I used to frequent many forums and post there, but no more. This is my one and only.

This site has a familial quality to it. Mostly why i come here 5-10 times a day. I really enjoy reading all the nutty stuff you guys post. It really is interesting that there are so many of us that have the 1999 join date. I bet that there arent too many forums out there that have a loyal following like this one. And thats what makes it so special.

I'd probably donate money to keep the Lifer forum open and just post there.

In reality Anand recently put up a "help wanted" ad on the front page, seeking more writing staff due to how busy it has been.

I only supply what the people want.

Yeah?

I don't remember you coming through with the midget gorilla porn pictures. The ones you posted were totally a gibbon in a dress.

Although I was impressed with both your enthusiasm and stamina.

I would definitely have more time to mow the lawn

Maybe one day I'll actually see the lifer forum. Doubt it though.

I really have never had another forum I've bonded with, and I don't know that I would if this place ceased to exist. It would feel like a loss but I doubt I would try to replace it.
This exactly.

+1

With a private site there's no guarantee the owner won't decide it's time to pull the plug some day. Who could blame someone deciding not be tied to something for a lifetime?

I can tell you, Honest (American) Indian, this site's owner has ZERO plans to sell out or pull the plug here.

In fact, I can personally attest that, unlike others --<cough> Thomas Pabst </cough> -- who have taken the money and run, Anand has gone to heroic lengths to keep reinventing the main site to remain relevant to today's tech toy trends.

As ever, ATF was, is and will be along for that ride.
