I agree. Obviously anyone in the 63+ percent who are against the iraq war are fringe lunatic moron teenagers:D ;)

The point is that 62% of those people do NOT watch his show. His ratings do not warrant the cash.

Olbermann is looking for such a big pay raise because Countdown has been on fire, playing a big part in the current audience uptick at the network. In the key 25-54 demo, its ratings are up 25% year-to-date and an astounding 75% so far in the fourth quarter.

Ratings are up does not mean he gets many viewers. It is easier to raise smaller numbers by a large % than larger ones.

You need to re-read what I quoted and replied to.

And your point is? He has been responsible in boosting MSNBC share (something that the network SORELY needs right now) and has boosted the younger audience. Whether he deserves $4 million is up for debate, but the man clearly should be rewarded for his performance.

Watching The Daily Show is the equivalent of reading Cliff's Notes. You get most of the pertinent information of the day's political news in a brief period of time. Whether you agree with his slant is another topic for discussion.

I find it funny the pass the left gives to people in the media and celebrities for their high salaries.

Your comparing the salary of a CEO to an entertainer

Thats' exactly his point (I believe). A CEO is more deserving of something like that than a leftist, airheaded mouth yapper...

That is what's so troubling, too many reading the Cliffs instead of the book. You read Cliffs to get by but you read the book to learn and educate yourself.

If he boosted the network's ratings by 4x then he might have a point. The real issue is that his show has very few viewers. He, and MSNBC, are struggling right now and paying a lowly rated host $4million won't help at all.

Viewership going from 100 viewers to 175 viewers for a 75% is barely boosting share.

Anyone who watches his show for more than a few seconds would know that, as he repeats how great his book sales have been over and over again. No, Bill, I don't want a Factor hat and leather jacket, with "portions" of the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.

Aren't most young adults liberal anyway and then slowly convert into conservative tightwads? :D

That being said, conservatives always bash The Daily Show b/c young adults are drawn to the format. Who gives a sh!t if its a leftest spin. Don't like it, create a right-wing version to appeal to young conservative adults...

Oh wait, that wouldn't work...

You were saying that Daily Show is the Cliff Note's equivalent to the news...if anything Stewart is an idiot that's giving misinformation. His liberal spin just makes him look like an idiot. It's the same shvt...Bush is a Monkey, Cheney is really running the country, and Rumsfeld is Hitler.

The main argument is that Olbermann doesn't deserve $4 million for raising viewers from 100 to 175.

If Stewart is a leftist giving misinformation, then what does that make Bill ORLY? A right-wing apologist?

And what about Olbermann? He's clearly a mouthpiece for the left, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

You make it painfully obvious that you don't actually watch The Daily Show.

Bill ORLY always has the opposing viewpoint whenever he has a debate. I'm not a big fan of Bill. He tries to hard to be in the middle.

Yes, and he's always sure to bring on the person that he knows will:

A. Be a ****** loony and make the 'liberal' side look out of touch

B. Be such a spineless bag of douche that they won't stand up to his bullying

He's an excellent writer, as opposed to the verbal diarrhea that O'Reilly spews. But he's got good people too, and to pay KO $4m means to pay his top people as well, and NBC most likely can't afford all that. I'm guessing he'll settle in the $2.5-2.8m range.

You're the reason why the media is so biased toward the left.

Anyone who hates Stewart or Colbert has some major issues. Disagree, ok, think they are not funny, ok, but to truly hate them is more a problem with the Viewer and not Stewart/Colbert.
