So? That doesn't make it debatable. Thats like saying the age of the earth is debatable because some nutcases think its 6000 years old.

I'm not sure the debate is over, either. Measuring the earth's temperature is not an easy thing to do. Heat island effects may be causing some of the trend.

But, the real debate is now focusing on the cause, as you state. Lots of data on all sides, from fossil fuel consumption, to solar activity, to refrigerant usage and release into the atmosphere....

I guess we'll just have to do what we can to minimize our impact. I see this as an opportunity to improve our management of resources. :beer:

Suprising...its one of the first reports that I have seen that look at this warming trend as a natural CYCLICAL pattern of the Earth. What most enviromentalists dont want you to know is that there was a minor Ice Age in the 18th century...therefore, the Earth warms after an Ice Age. DUH!

So your "cold shocks" are in fact a lot more "temporary" than the overall warming trend.

Guys, with all of the research done, and no one being able to come to a definitive conclusion that is consensus, why are you arguing as if either "side" is 100% correct?

The simple fact is that there is no definitive answer either way (unless you have an agenda to support, that is).

There IS a concensus and the consensus is that the earth is warming. There is no other way to interpret data that shows that the earth's temperatures are getting higher and higher. The real debate on global warming is (a) what is causing it? and (b) how long will it take to seriously threaten the fate of mankind?

Global warming is the old term. It was long ago realized that the proper term is global climate change, but the old term has stuck. Some areas will get colder, some will get warmer. If this happens, Europe would be thrown into an ice age as the only thing keeping it warm in this ocean current.
