Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H

According to link below, it says
  1. Supports new generation of AMD Phenom™II X6 processors
However when I emailed Gigabyte about a bios, I was told

"Dear customer,
It still under AMD's X6 processor validation, please check back with us two weeks later."

Sounds like they are just doing tests to make sure there's no bugs. It sounds highly likely it will work.

I sure hope so. I hope not to have the one model of MB that they decided not to update the bios to.

For a side question, I would be curious to know what would happen if you put the cpu in a compatible board that doesn't have the bios update. Only register 4 cores? Show 6 but only utilize 4 cores?

Unless I looked at the picture of the cooler wrong, it looks like it snaps on like the standard AMD cooler.

BTW, I have a sunbeam core-contact that you MIGHT be able to do without removing the motherboard. Let me use it Friday, and watch for my temps report. $30 last I saw (usually 40)

Not me, but the more I hear about it the more interesting it sounds. I would obviously need a motherboard swap, but the gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P board with a 1055T looks like a hell of a low-cost platform... it might tempt me to switch in a few weeks. Gak, I hate doing mobo swaps now. I'd also probably have to reinstall Win7.. so it's a real tough decision.

Looks like AMD might have a real hit on its hands. Intel may regret not getting hexacore Nehalems out into the $200-$300 segment. They probably think that base is covered with the i7 930. But I am rooting for AMD. I may wind up voting with my wallet fairly soon.

Is this cpu compatible with DDR-2 memory? If I could find a cheap AMD board to go with the 4 gigs of of DDR-2 memory I already have, I'd bite...

In-home Lan sessions, love it.

Thats what my son and his friends did for 5 new years eve in a row..

Now they have jobs and a life. So now I have all this hardware, and decided to put it to good use folding.

55 hours till the little brown truck gets here.....

would like to get the amd 1055t processor, but biostar hasn't release a updated bios for my TA790GX rev 5.0 motherboard since last august. :( saw that someone posted on here the tiger direct deal to get the 1055t for $125 after mail in rebate. Tried to go to tiger direct website but it been down since last night. :(

Wow as much as I love lan gaming, I could not sit at home on new years eve playing lan games no matter how much I like the game!

However, after the night is over and 3am in the morning game on!

That would be after the woman is sleeping of course :p

Ok Now I have the GA-MA785GM-US2H. I went & picked one up tonight. I hoping by the time I get home from work on Friday, maybe they will have an updated bios for my board, otherwise I'll have to break this one open.

Got the parts for my 1055T rig sitting in front of me. Hopefully I will have time today to put it together. Itching to play with it!

I plan to apply a modest overclock to 3.2 GHz using the stock cooler.
