On the iPod (2001): "No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame."

lol. Fools never learn.

The Ipod did not take off until a few years after its release and apple made improvements to it and open the itunes store. Comparing it to what it is now and what was original is rather stupid.

I'm sure the Ipad will sell, not as big as the ipod but very few products are that popular. It has room to improve just like the original ipod.

When your criticism flies in the face of reality yes, i'd have to say it was based on pure bias or hate. If there were 200 dollar windows tablets that flew like wind you would have a point, but the market has PROVEN your assertions about the ipad to be wrong. if the ipad is a rip off why do the joojoo and archos cost just as much, and run like sh*t. when you are claiming that a device that costs the same, runs faster, has double or triple the battery life of its competitors and is lighter, as inferior or a turd, you aren't dealing with reality are you? you are comparing it to some fantasy device that doesn't exist to claim its a rip off. that doesn't fly.

calm down, its a gadget

Wow. I just saw on the news that people waited in lines for days outside the stores to buy this thing. Sad people are sad.

And I was in my local Best Buy this morning for something unrelated and decided to walk back and see if they had any in stock. Let's just say I laughed that people waited in line for days...

the next generations will be a hell of a lot better though...

Favorite apps so far Netflix & ABCs apps...

I use a projector for my main TV, nice to not fire up everything and pull the drapes...

You live in TN, in So Cal the Best Buy I went buy had a huuuge line. I'd bet my pink slip that you won't find one out here as of right now. I mean I guess the idiots (as you call them) could have bought a plane ticket to TN so they wouldn't have to wait in line. But if a person wanted one and didn't live in BFE waiting in line would be the only option besides pre-ordering. You won't find a store in LA that has 1 in stock.

I've been playing with it for 2 hours. My brother brought it over and yes there's some awesome iPad only apps like the Marvel one which is sweet and it's very polished but I can't understand why anyone would pay $500+ for it. It seriously is just a bigger iPhone/iPod touch and I guarantee you anyone that is buying an iPad already has an iPhone/iPod touch so there's practically zero reason.

most of the stupid people in this country live in LA.

Coincidence? i think not

Q: What does geography have to do with the iPad?

A: Nothing!

This is a technical forum, not OT. Keep the banter and insults to yourself.

It's obvious you don't understand. You have no vision, no foresight. If you think that all the iPad is, is a bigger iPod touch, you are mistaken. Everyone knows this.

What if they don't have an iPhone or iPod touch? My laptop battery has died so I am debating using that to justify an iPad purchase :) It'd be ~100 for a new battery... so is the iPad worth $400? I can't decide!! Thankfully we have a few more weeks before it hits Canada and I'm hoping something sweet will be unveiled in that time to convince me. (whether that be a killer app or some new 4.0 rumours...)

Or they could just wait til next week when all of the unsold stock that's sitting pretty much everywhere outside of LA gets redistributed to the mecca of Jobs knob slobbing.

PS, I never called anyone an idiot in my post but thanks for trying.

**EDIT**
Guess they could have just gone to San Fran too since it is closer than TN:

http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/ptech/04/03/apple.ipad.sale/index.html?hpt=T2

Employees at an Apple store at 14th Street and Ninth Avenue in New York told shoppers they expected to be sold out of iPads by the end of the day, Julio Ortiz-Teissonniere told CNN's iReport. Later, an employee said the store still was selling iPads shortly before 7 p.m., though he declined to elaborate about the store's supply.

Without citing figures, employees at other Apple stores across the country said Saturday afternoon and evening that they still had iPads to sell. One worker at a store on Stockton Street in San Francisco, California, said it had just a limited stock of 16-gigabyte iPads left late in the afternoon, but it still had a pretty good number of 32- and 64-gigabyte iPads.

So much for it being a TN regional thing.

You too can take it down a notch.

Didn't pre order one, just walked right in and bought one around noon in long island, ny. Took me all of about 5 minutes too...they had an army of salespeople there, and the store was packed. They just grabbed a box, swiped my card on an iphone, and I was done.
