How can you compare a Ford to a car that's built like a brick?
I want to see a Volvo vs SUV crash test.

You do realize that Ford OWNS Volvo?
So, I own a Kia and a Ferrari...thus, they're equally as fast and cool

Logic, brotha. Use it.
Take your own advice.

😕

Suddenly the song "Youth of the Nation" pops into my head, and I am very scared.
You're obviously not following. Ford bought volvo in what...1998? Just because ford owns volvo doesn't mean volvo = ford, and doesn't mean volvo build quality = "ford" build quality.

I never said Ford = Volvo, and I don't think that's the case. However, Fords influence in Volvo is a factor in their vehicles. The fact that you would own a Kia and a Ferrari has nothing to do with original statement that Ford owns Volvo. I was just pointing out that your logic stinks, nothing more.

Are you completely missing what I quoted? Let me break it down for you:

Guy posts saying Volvo >> Ford.
Guy quotes saying Volvo == Ford.
I quote saying, in sarcastic hyperbole that the owner of something doesn't mean the things are the same, Volvo != Ford.

Other than the fact that they are unreliable have you ever seen the interior of one? Just look at the dash. Cheap plastic, fugly design that they use in all of their cars.

Hmm, I would say that GM cars are even worse in that respect. Dodge also.

Bahhh...this thread is going to turn into a Bash thread as all car threads on OT tend to turn into
as for GM's yes granted they have some problems with there interior being noisy but have you
drove any of the 03 - 04 there rather quite, take my 04 GMC Canyon it is very quite inside and
it has the Z71 lift on it as well as off road tires.

All I know about ford is that the tempo is a big piece of sh1t car... but it was fun to beat it up till it died (friend got it for free), and it was comfortable compared to a honda 😛

Try changing the oil filter one the last model year of 4 door escorts.

That's reason enough to hate Ford.

Ford Engineer #1: Hey Bob, let's design this thing so that the placement of a drain plug for the oil pan is so close to the frame that you can't put a standard sized socket up there to unscrew it. And to make it even better, lets place the oil filter in the middle of the engine bay so you have to bury your arm up to your elbow to try and reach it!

Ford Engineer #2: BRILLIANT!

Because they're pieces of garbage?

😛

That's actually interesting about the engineering. I didn't really realize they were harder to work on than your average Toyonda.

that what happened to my roomate 2 years ago.

That's the point😛 If I had them I'd post pic of my friend's t-boned '85 760 wagon. Fcvker is built like a tank.

Probably because they don't break down very often, so he doesn't make much money fixing them. 😀

bwahahaha we must be talking about an entirely different company here...you do realize that the BLUE oval is Ford and the SILVER oval with the design in it is Toyota, right?

 my reliable, unkillable Toyota...maybe not quite as tough as a Volvo but it gets better mileage 😛

That made me chuckle because it's probably what actually happened.

Volvos may be built as bricks, but they are as ugly as the rest of the stuff that comes off the Ford production line.

Sorry Roger, but Chevy's are even uglier, i guess that is an accomplishment in itself though.

Nothing against you Quix, You are the only one on this BBS that I deep down truly respect because your posts are informative, non-derogatory and mostly correct, you sir have something that almost all the other ass hats in OT do not have, class.
HEY! 😛 You left me out of that list because I'm in love with my Lincoln, didn't you? 😛 You're right about stuff being crammed in there though. Getting at the oil filter on the Mark VIII is a royal pain. Let's all thank Ford for designing the T-Bird/Mark VIII platform around a V6 and then finding a half-arsed way to shove the 4.6 into the engine bay. Still, the 280 HP is nice... 😉

Be careful or I'll post what I don't like about Hondas. 😉

I know they're not perfect Quix. My main problem is that they're assembled by asians with small hands making it impossible for me to get to things. Also, they bench assemble a lot of stuff making it even tougher to work on it when its in the car. Plus the parts are expensive.

There. See, Hondas aren't pefect either😉
But that is why I like'm. Most owners don't like scraping their finger and pay me to fix their cars instead.

Now Fords are a different breed, it's either the owners can't figure out the problem or they don't want to buy all the special tools.
