By the way, where's the software for mac? That's what I thought.

Theres plenty of software for the Mac, What are you looking for and Ill show you the mac version of it....
Heres all of apples software.
The have office for the mac.

Those are just a few, but macs software thats on their site has alot of uses,
What is the software that the mac doesnt have?? If something isnt made, which I doubt it because there are many variations of mac software, you can always run virtual PC and run windblowz software on it.

BTW since you say P4 suck, if you had an AMD laptop you wouldnt need a heater in your house because they get so hot they wil literaly burn you......

They get so hot because OEMs use POS heatpipes/heatsinks on them. Maybe if you had some education you'd figure it out.
BTW, that's not quite a lot of software. Now now... I wonder how *slow* virtual PC is?

THE POINT IS THE STILL GET HOT. It doesnt matter what the OEMS use, the should use a better product and thats not our fault, I had one and it was unbearable. The powerbooks have thermal cooling, the insides get hot but the laptop doesnt burn you externally. Virtual PC will run fine on an ibook 500mhz G3 running appliations, So I know it will fly on a G4 1ghz, Virtual PC will load faster on my freinds mac than on his 2ghz p4 laptop.

ANY CPU GETS HOT! Does it matter to you that your friend's 2ghz P4 is probably full of crap and hasn't been reformatted in quite some time? Does he use aol? Virtual PC itself will load faster, of course, but not the PROGRAMS YOU'RE EMULATING.

Well it's kind of obvious that you're a Crapple fanboy, a stupid one too. I can't believe you're even selling a pc to buy one of those pieces of garbage.

So they could find a better method of cooling, the apple products dont burn you althugh they get hot, there cooling systems are designed better, another reason to go apple. And no virtual PC launches apps faster than the p4 does, and he doesnt use AOL. Your just a basher, I used to be that way, then I saw how good they really where. Yea macs sucked a couple years ago, but with the recent upgrades they are really good.

Cooling system designed better, rofl. Do you know how hot those things run for their speed? My 1.2 @ 1.33 will not burn you even if you touch the heatsink. It's barely warm. Macs suck, face it. How much ram did that P4 have? How much crap in the background? How much sh!t did it come preinstalled with?

Look inside an ibook or better yet a powerbook, you will see what I mean about the cooling.
The P4 had 1GB of DDR memory, It didnt have anything running in the background, and it didnt have the all preinstalled crap, because the guy formatted it as soon as he had it, although it wasent new he had it for a while.

What OS was it running? Because even with the 60% faster IPC if I read right, the P4 would still win.

Yea I told him that too, But hes determinded to spend the whole ammount, this guy never buys anything though normally he is all about saving money and not wasting it, so itsok cut loose everyonce and a while I guess.

So I figured might as well get 2 for one, when one of those 2 are as fast and the single one you where going to get its just not portable.

well dude i don't think you have ever used one at least never while being impartial, when i first got a look at the dude laptop, the ibook and the 2ghz pc laptop, i still loathed macs, but then i got a chancet to use it, and i really liked it.

Programs? well as pc has programs and many of them, so to macs, you can find any type of 3rd party program that you could want(and b4 you say antything about 3rd party programs, all of pc's programs are thrid party they just cost money). Also Macs do lack in games, but i don't think i'll get board enough to play one, especially not in college, i would go out and live a little, and party it up.

Me the only thing i do on the 1.33 ghz peice of junk is Internet, AIM, word, Dreamweaver, and fireworks. and if you think about it, the last to were made for macs, hint MACromedia..

Preech it brother, BTW I havent played a game in 6 months on my desktop, That is one flaw of macs ill admit lack of games, but Im getting 2 old for PC games, I just want MAME now 🙂 and with my cabinet almost complete that will be here soon.

Talking about MAME and Mac though, MAME on a 500 MHz Ibook performs much better than a 1ghz pc system loaded with ram, Running games like marvel vs. capcom is really good.

Franky, I would reccomend just getting the 15" PowerBook. The 17" is a so-called "desktop replacement" and is a tad large for hauling around; the 15" on the other hand is just the right balence of portability and usability. As for your combo, you're going to need to spend more money on it than you have planned, the amount of RAM really isn't enough, especially on the 128MB iBook. The PowerBook will also have a better graphics adapter, as it has a Mobility Radeon 9000 Pro, vs. the iMac's GF4MX, and the iBook's Mobility Radeon 7500. Besides, with the PowerBook, you can just sit down, plug it in to a monitor(if you want to), plug in a keyboard, and you've got a system just as good as any desktop. It's up to you, but for that kind of money, a PC workstation and an Apple laptop would seem to be the best combo.

I'm saving up to get a Mac too. Although I *really* want to get myself an imac now, I think I am going to wait a year in hopes that Apple will have new the PPC 970 processors out by then. At the moment my Athlon XP 1600+ is still fast and does everything I want it to, and the imac would actually be slower than what I have now. However, I want to get rid of this bulky cancer causing CRT and noisy PC, so I am definitely switching by next year. I can't wait!!

And I would recommend you get the 15" powerbook, and get an external keyboard, mouse, and speakers that you can hook up when you use it in your room. When you need to take it with you somewhere, just unplug 3 wires, and bring it anywhere.

True, i defiantly will max out both systems with ram, but that will be according to me, after my parents buy the computer
As of now, i'll get the 15 incher if apple updates them, but if they don't idk what i'll do

Franky, I would reccomend just getting the 15" PowerBook. The 17" is a so-called "desktop replacement" and is a tad large for hauling around; the 15" on the other hand is just the right balence of portability and usability. True but both him and I are trying to get away from PCs, I dont like the instability, and although I have some experiance with different flavors of linux its interface is just not for me. I dont like the idea of Paladam either, its not like I have anything to hide, I just dont like the way MS is trying to control everything.

While the 15" doesn't have airport extreme and bluetooth, keep this in mind:

- In about 3-5 months apple will likely unveil the NEW 15" powerbook with said things

- You can add bluetooth to the current model for $49 for a USB adapter

- Airport extreme is based on *tentative* specifications so it may or may not be compatible with all 802.11g networks.

If you get a new powerbook, get the 12". I will reiterate that the 17" will be TOO HONKIN' HUGE to be practical as a laptop.
