I sincerely hope Israel does discover exploitable oil so they can get off the US dole. Our decades long policy of heavily funding Israel is, in the end, is the only reason Israel even tolerates the US.

BTW OP I know you are a one trick pony regarding Obama, but I saw nothing in your article even remotely involving Obama or his policies.
 
Oil from deeply buried oil shale may look to be a wondrous technology but its proved to be an environmental disaster in just about every in the US that has tried it. Because it requires fracturing of the rock which allows all kinds of stuff into the groundwater.

The muslim religion and freedom/democracy are fundamentally opposed. That's not just my opinion but is built into the principles of that so called religion. If you don't think so then link the news reports of all the "good" muslims demonstrating against the murder of 3,000 people on 9/11.

Religion itself is fundamentally opposed to freedom/democracy, but freedom of religion is necessary for freedom/democracy. And yes that includes Islam. By the way the Muslim student association at my college held a candlelight vigil for the victims of 911 the day after the attacks.
 
Since I work partly in the oil and gas industry this perked my curiosity however I took the news with a grain of salt, and for good reason.

After researching this for a bit, every single news article points straight to: http://www.ceri-mines.org/documents/27symposium/presentations/av02-4minster.pdf

A few things to start with assuming the above link is accurate:
1) The deposit is over an area of 1,000km^2, not 25 square miles
2) The deposit is in tons, recoverable barrels is about half the number of tons of shale rock assuming good yield (so 125B barrels not 250B).

Why this presentation contains an error and/or we have been oblivious for years
1) The presentation is from 2007 27th symposium of ceri http://www.ceri-mines.org/27thOilShaleSymposium.htm
2) Every other geological survey of Israel places its shale rock at around ~5-10B.

It just doesn't meet Occam’s razor considering only one presentation from 2007 is the source of this news.

There's no such thing as a Muslim who doesn't bother anyone. Their only suitable end-state for the world is entirely Muslim. Total conquest is the only way they'll be satisfied.
