I actually thought the change DID improve the intro music. I mean, it took it from like a 1/10 to like a 2/10. But it somehow did at least make it better.

Truthfully, it did grow on me. The whole show did.

I just finished Voyager, and it made me SERIOUSLY miss Enterprise. Fucking hell, Voyager sucked fucking ass, through and through. I can't even bring myself to try DS9 now.

All in all, aside from, you know, everything...Voyager's biggest problem was the characters. Which is funny, because people said the same about Enterprise, and I liked a lot of the characters there. Hell, I liked some of the recurring people better than I liked any of the leads on Voyager. Like the blue guy with the wiggly forehead penises.

Voyager was affirmative action Star Trek. The captain is a chick, #2 is a space indian, engineering is led by a Mexican klingon, and, uh...fuck, I can't even remember any more characters. Oh yeah, some fucking Asian guy with one of those half-white names. Johnny Kim, or Steve Wang or some shit. And one white dude, who seemed to have closely studied the character of William Riker, but the only part he got right was slowly getting fatter over the course of the show.

yeah voyager is aa but i still love it
love it more seeing enterprise convert:)

I finished Enterprise. Except for the last episode. Figured it was better to just avoid it, given how terrible I'd heard it was.

Seasons 3 and 4 were pretty good. Mostly the third. Four got a bit tiresome with its 3-4 episode 'arcs' that made it like a bunch of miniseries.

Trying to watch Voyager now. Hard to get into it. Needs more interesting TNG-esque mysterious plots. I'm on like episode 8 of season 1, I think. The one with the recycled TNG plot where a boring-ass Riker knockoff murders the shithead husband of some shithead female alien.

...literally, their species...shitheads. They are humans, but with big lumps of shit on their heads. Who comes up with this shit?

I watched 1-2 episodes in season 4 and just gave up on it completely. Season 3 was pretty good though, I'll agree with you there.

Voyager is unwatchable. I just don't give a fuck about any of the crew or the story lines. DS9 is the same level of suckitude as Voyager... unwatchable.

I never finished (new) BSG while it ran. Been slowly fitting in an episode or two here and there. Yeah, some of the oddball subplots (religious/political/babydaddyandishearobot) were part of what kept me from finishing it. But put it on, and I'm roped in, and generally opening the BSG wiki and yeah...

TOS...never had any love for it -- before my time, campy as all hell. :p

TNG...at the time, interesting. Now, a bit dated. Voyager...interesting at the time, effects hold up a bit better, but just pretty shoddy I guess.

Someone pointed out in here Stargate started up also -- IIRC, they were pairing SG-1 and BSG (and Firefly reruns :p) on SciFi Friday's. Then they added Atlantis to the mix as well. Would take all of them over pretty much any of the Trek's...

Enterprise is actually one of the more interesting Trek's to me, just because they were trying to play with it a bit. But the entrenched ideas and whatnot really held them back.

Most decent shows have a sweet spot of season 2ish-?. I hate seeing things get canceled too early but man when they drag them out for too long...

It's weird.

I think ToS was great - but when I watch it, I keep thinking 'well other episodes were'.

Battlestar Galactica (the new one of course), I think 'ugh, I would not want to watch that sgain', but put an episode on and I really like it while watching.

When I'm not watching, I can't stand the idea of the annoying characters, the tedious plots, it's a chore - but put that episode on, and 'this is really great'.

It's funny how things work like that work. A game I think is great I won't want to play, and one that's not good I'll play a lot.

Go to the market and buy stuff I think I'll want to eat, then it'll sit in the fridge.

I mention this just as a caveat about how it's not that simple rating these shows. I still think ToS was great, but of course it had a lot of flaws.

But take a really flawed ToS episode, and I find things to like a lot more about it than a high-quality production episode of any of the other series.

Maybe it's similar that I really enjoy some of 'The Prisoner', even though it's a terribly flawed show also, and really annoying with the unexplained things.

That seems like one of the early shows to break the past conventions of TV - the standard spy thriller - to do something new. Ironically, TV has remained a lot more formulaic.

Mostly. Series like Dexter (the premise, not the many episodes) or Breaking Bad do pretty fresh things.

I lold pretty hard at Affirmative Action Star Trek, though that never bothered me all that much. Chakotay's Indian schtick did get pretty old after three episodes, at the most, but to focus on that sort of thing at the expense of the rest of the series' large flaws is a little silly.

Just try DS9 already, watch the first two or three episodes, you'll probably either love it or hate it.

Okay, so I think I figured something out:

Voyager sucks ass.

DS9 also sucks ass.

The ass is sucked for many different reasons, but sucked it is, nonetheless.

I'm about through season two of DS9. Kind of. I feel like I've only seen two or three episodes. Many of the episodes, you have to pay attention or you won't know what's going on. There is no casual watching.

The issue that arises, is that this show is fucking boring and uninteresting. The characters are shit. I give no fucks about any of them, except maybe Quark.

Sisko is utter cardboard that barely even seems to qualify as a main character. Dax is blah. Kira is just fucking annoying. O'Brien...I mean, fuck, he was the utter definition of a throwaway filler character on TNG, and he is not redeemed here. Odo is okay, but is bound by the 'rules' of his character, and thusly always behaves in the same predictable fashion, which becomes...yes, fucking boring. Bashir...dear god, he makes the English guy on Enterprise seem like The Most Interesting Man in the World. And...wait, for fuck's sake, is that EVERYONE? Why am I watching this fucking show?!

I never did understand this forums fascination with DS9. I feel the same way about it as you do. They will tell you gets better but it doesn't. It's just not very good.

You're not totally wrong. It all starts to form and come together though and then later you appreciate what you saw before more.

Dax and bashir are mostly lame the whole way though. Except dax gets dramatically better and more interesting the last season before they fire her.

Quark and odo are the best characters I think. And of course Dukat who gives the best performance of his life. Garek is a mystery that adds some interesting flare. And worf comes on later. Never much depth in Worf but he seems to help.

I like Odo searching for his people. That is quite an intriguing story line.

It was 1994 or so by then and brand new. It get's it's wings and feels more modern soon.

Like most multi-year shows it does get better after the first few seasons, but a lot of people just don't like it and never will. Whatever.

This. Star Trek in general has a prebeard/postbeard phase. The post beard era is always better.

The whole wormhole alien stuff is just a weak ending.

They seriously did fuck up the finale. I think they were going for epic, but it was just cliche and hammy. The last season as a whole wasn't as good, but it was still decent.

If you pay attention to how much they reused footage of ships and battles in the last season, it really comes off like the budget drying up.

If you like 24, watch the last episode of Enterprise season 2 and all of season 3.

Next Generation is my favorite and is easy to get into and has the best captain, DS9 is excellent but hard to get into (when I watched it as a teen in the 90s I found the B'joran politics and religion as something I'd rather do without, also none of the characters really wanted to be there which made which made them less likeable), Voyager is the most philosophical of the treks. If you liked classic trek, check out the somewhat obscure Planet of the Apes TV series (I believe all the actors graduated from the Captain Kirk Academy of Fist Fighting).

Gets its. There should be no apostrophes in this sentence.

I made like a dozen mistakes before looking it over again. If you are going to check my grammar do it right :colbert:

I had misspelled Odo, a couple words, not to mention I only capitalized like half the names. And what you mentioned. Obviously I simply hadn't checked it over last night and didn't care.

I skipped the end of the second season to start the third, which seemed like maybe it would pick up.

It's...so...boring. I watched the two-parter and I can't tell you anything about the plot. I'd specify the name of the episode I'm referring to, but I can't remember it. The Defiant was being attacked and I went to sleep.

At least I was OCCASIONALLY engaged by Voyager. It's looking like:

TNG >> Enterprise >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Voyager>>>>DS9
