he's an oral surgeon, he should specialize in the whole damn mouth. i have never heard of an explicit Palate Surgeon. did he just refer you to another oral surgeon?

did this guy at least give you any diagnosis?

just the same as the original doctor i went to, could be one of a few things.

actually, he referred me to a hospital. I don't know what doctor I'll be seeing or what he specializes in.

I just got back from the dentist. My teeth and gums are perfect, but they did an oral cancer check and noticed this lump on the left side of my soft pallet. The skin color looks the same as the other side, there's just a lump or bump there.

I never felt it until they pointed it out and i can feel it now with my tongue and finger. its not noticeable unless i move my tongue to the top and back of my mouth though.
it feels pretty big to me compared to the right side.

they told me to have my physician check it. luckily, i already have an appointment for something else today, an ingrown toenail, so they can check it today.

I don't smoke and I don't chew tobacco so I know that's not a cause.

pontifex, does this mean I have to get my weiner checked? I don't have any bumps. Please help! :brokenheart::(

stop raping sheep and you might prevent that problem.

WTF was that doc smoking?

Do they have a raffle and decide which bit of the mouth they're gonna specialise in that month?

I'm thinking the Dr's must not be too concerned about it.

When my neighbor found a lump in her breast... she was in the OR within 12 hours of her asking her doctor about it.

I know... maybe not apples to apples, but you get the idea.

Although I don't agree with the run-around Dr's seem to like to hand out these days.

This is all precautionary crap and I wouldn't worry about it. Even if it was something that needed to be removed, it doesn't seem like it was there long enough to do damage.

got the CAT scan done. The 1st time I went through the guy told me not to move but once it started, I wanted to laugh because it just looked like some cheesy special effects from some old sci-fi movie. lol

after that i went back to the original doctor and showed him the scans results. its not going into the bone or eating away at the bone so he said that was good. he was going to do a biopsy but decided not to. He forgot the lump was under the skin and said he could do it but there's a chance he could leave a hole in my mought there so he referred me to an oral surgeon instead. i go in for that on Monday.

sigh...i feel like i keep getting a runaround or something because the last few appointments where so far apart in terms of time and now i gotta go see another doctor yet...its a bit annoying

You're lucky, I had one of these when I was around 25 and it did eat into the bone. I never knew I had a problem until I got a tooth ache and discovered the teeth were movable. The surgeon found a hole big enough to put his thumb through and I lost five teeth thank to that. Keep us informed and good luck!

OMG same thing... cept it pushed my gums and I did lose about five teeth also

After about 4 months and 4 doctors, I am finally scheduled to have the biopsy done next Monday. Saw the 4th doctor today and he is the one who will be doing it.

Maybe I'll finally know wtf it is.

Lets hope it is nothing. Damn, 4 months? Took me a total of 2 weeks to have a surgery and biopsy on a lump I found on one of the boys (was nothing thankfully).

Yep. The lump was found around the middle or end of April.

just checked the date of my OP and it was on 4/20 that I found out about it. It's now 8/20.

What the hell do you mean it's nothing? It's a fucking lump, that's what it is. A lump isn't nothing. Even so, if everyone that has an odd lump in one place or another went to get it cut out, we would have a pretty damn wasteful health care system.
