Considering the US election is extremely important to the global political climate. Having some oversight, not saying Russian oversight, but possibly UN oversight, should probably be welcomed. Being a global player means that we owe not just our country, but the world, a fair election.

Did you read the article? We already let monitors in.

Russia was invited to participate in routine monitoring conducted by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, in which Russia is a member, but the level of access was unacceptable to the Russians, according broadcaster RT.

The European group said it will observe the U.S. election with a delegation of 439 people from 10 countries deployed nationwide. The delegation includes at least one Russian.

I'd just LOVE to have Russian monitors at our elections IF and ONLY IF we are allowed to scrupulously do the same to theirs.

We do, to a certain extent.

Toner noted that U.S. officials participated in a similar observation mission for Russia's parliamentary elections in September.

Even this would be useless. Their observers will stir shit up because we don't restrict speech and ours will be ignored because they restrict speech.

Haha keep thinking that.
Here's what would happen even in your rosy scenario.
NK, Russian, Iranian, Syrian, Chinese and a few other oppressive places would find thousands of infractions and that would be all they talk about for 4 years then rise and repeat.

Instead we get from our news, that Russia is going to forge evidence of voter fraud, and now we have absolutely no support to the opposite except those same sources of news?

I'd just LOVE to have Russian monitors at our elections IF and ONLY IF we are allowed to scrupulously do the same to theirs.

Yes, why not?!

Are you that weak minded, or do you just enjoy reveling in ignorance?

I think you are missing the point. By just knowing the headline, and whatever specific quote in the article that aroused enough emotion in the OP to spur the posting, I then comment on how I feel it would best be resolved.

In this instance, I suggested a more independent oversight, and viola! The OSCE has a 57 country delegation that monitors elections!!! I arrived at that independent (or ignorant for the mean-spirited) of anything that the article said. Now if I had read the article, I would have already known that oversight is already conducted, and automatically inferred that it was "correct", and not been able to come to my independent conclusion.

The converse side of this argument is present in Pokerguys response.

Uh, no. We don't "owe" the world squat. We run our elections the way we see fit, if they don't like it, tough.
he didnt read the article, and independently came to the conclusion that no oversight is the correct answer. Had he read the article, he may have never posted that....

Your little exercise in mental masturbation is boring. You were already told that we have independent observers.

Love the outrage.... Needed more of it when the Obama administration was spending taxpayer money to influence elections in Israel.

Not that you're expected to figure out, it was already alluded to that US influences elections in a lot of places, and certainly should get their money's worth in Israel.

You have needed to evaluate whether to finally stop posting nonsense for a very long time anyway, to be blunt about it.

I would be surprised if Putin wants Trump in the office. I worry there will come serious war for sure if Trump would become president. Putin would prefer the Clintons much more in my opinion as they are more into having a dialog and solving problems in a realistic way .
Then again, Trump might become the second US president to be shot in his own country if he would turn out to be a war mongering fool. That is what i think.

Putin would not be happy with Trump.

The sort of world stability we have now would worsens with Trump at the helm of the US.
Arm sales is one thing, but the real money is in providing a stable energy infrastructure. And Russia is very aware of that. Without a stable energy infrastructure, conflicts can get out of hand very rapidly.

The fifth president, assuming you're only talking about successful assassinations. Probably closer to the tenth if counting unsuccessful ones. America loves its second amendment people.

The world would be less stable if two super powers

Aha, okay. I just took what i knew from memory to make that statement. I do worry that Trump would remove all kinds of regulations to protect people in the US and around the world and alienate the US at the same time from the rest of the world. With as exception of course militant factions in the middle east. Trump would be eager to support them under the table.
Also, companies like monsanto would be relieved of any regulation present and their practices would get worse because of the inherent weaknesses of self regulation.

Monsanto has been sold to Bayer so it is now an EU prpblem.

I will be more worried about the nukes than laws that are really made in Congress and Senate Trump becomes POTUS.

Monsanto will still be present in the US.
But i admit, the EU has their own share of "evil" companies.

edit :
An influx of new nukes build with current state of the art technology and knowledge of matter worries me as well.

I guess China has suddenly dropped of he map for some strange reason.

Oh come on, everybody worries about China, yet almost all stuff in the west comes in some form from China.
China is just a country full of people who try to live their lives just like we do. China depends on global trade and commerce just as we all do.
The Chinese government is not going to throw that all away. Well, if China would build the first operational and fully functional fusion reactor (The first of a series), then things might become different.
