-Traffic!

-Highway/Road construction that takes YEARS

-SPAM!! (and other junkmail/telemarketers etc)

-People who ask for help, and get offered the solution - but if they have to put forth ANY effort on their own to get what they want won't do it and just make excuses.

-People who publicly point out (and try to fix) the problems and flaws of everyone else in the world who haven't nearly got their own acts cleaned up. (Sally Struthers I'm pointing a finger in your general direction)

-Groups of people gather for ANY cause (organized religions, protest groups, etc)

My current pet peeve is a certain member of this forum...name begins with an E and they really annoy me, although I know they shouldn't.

Some people will know who I'm talking about, but I don't want to go any futher as I'm not a rude person, really! ;)

Found another pet peeve...

People who question why someone titled a thread the way they did. just kidding...
The reason I said OFFICIAL because it attracts attention and the point is too reduce the amount of threads so everyone posts their pet peeve in the OFFICIAL thread.

Another true pet peeve of mine is old windshield wipers that leave streaks and mess all over your winshield! I demand perfectly clear glass because otherwise it is distracting to me.

People who drive and use cell phones at the same time

People who can't take care of their children properly

People who choose not to take care of their children properly

People who keep bringing up the same point in an argument even though it's been shot down millions of times

People with crappy grammar and spelling and don't care

People who type/write/SPEAK in ebonics

List goes on and on... :)

People who make signs for the world to see and they have drawn the letter 'N' backwards. It's not that tough, and the more I see it the more it makes me realize that this will likely become another lazy mistake that makes its way into the norm.

Stores that sell items for under a dollar that list the price with a decimal point AND the cents sign; for example, eighty-five cents, 85¢ and $.85 are all the same but .85¢ is a fraction of a penny and a deal that the Hot Deals forums should take advantage of.

Having to bring up the stinking character map to find out how to make a '¢' sign.

Parents who smoke with their kids in the car and the windows up, or when they smoke while carrying their kids.

People who smoke who toss their cig butts out the window or on the sidewalk.

Anglers and campers who litter the HELL out of a spot in the wilderness and leave it as if it will magically clean itself up.

People who think that welfare is the blight of America (unless you are referring to corporate welfare).

People who think that term limits are a good idea. When the majority of people decide that the majority of people are unable to determine when it's time to remove a politician from office, then we are all in trouble.

I could continue, but the more I list the more I sound like a curmudgeon.

Edit---> Adding one more after reading Viper's post.

People who call tech support with a speaker phone and leave it on speakerphone. I understand not wanting to hold the phone while you wait, but pick it up when we answer. If you NEED to be on a speaker phone then speak loudly and clearly and let me know that you need to be on a speaker phone.

Those folks are the fun ones for me. When I discover that they are on speaker phone I start hitting the mute button on my headset every other word when I'm speaking so they think it's their crap speaker phone. Works every time.

- People who give only 7 digits when asked for their phone number by a NATIONAL technical support number. Next time you ask for our phone number I'll give you 247-7285. :|

- ISP's who refer customers to LAN support to obtain more IP addresses. (Customer is running a PUBLIC IP on one system, wants to connect more systems... ONVOY in Minneapolis referred them to me to "get more IP addresses.") :|

- People who call & insist on having loud music, parties, or other noise in the background.

- People who call & then yell at their kids while on the phone with me. ("Goddammit Jimmy, I'm on the @&#! phone!")

- People who don't comprehend the difference between technical support & !nterprise (the people who lay out where CO's will go, what areas will have DSL, etc.) & ask to speak to my supervisor when I tell them I have no clue when DSL will be available in their area, or why they can't get it now.

- People who launch into a 5-minute explanation of what they think the problem is the second you pick up the phone. 99% of the time they have no clue what they're talking about, & are spewing acronyms that they couldn't define if you asked them to.

- People who insist that they haven't changed anything... Only to admit later in the call that they moved their computer across the room, & forgot to plug something back in.

- Bosses who tell their secretaries to call tech support to "fix that dabdurned DSR cernection." Like the secretary knows anything about how the network works, where anything is, or even has admin rights to her own goddamned computer. The last thing we want is to have to deal with some 20 something secretary crawling around under her desk in high heels & a skirt trying to plug an RJ45 ethernet connection into their video card.

- People who don't understand support boundaries, & think I should be able to setup their VPN software for them.

- People who are making 2x as much money as I am working as a network admin, & are massaging their neck with their sphincter when it comes to ANYTHING to do with networking. These people are supposed to understand the difference between a public & private address, & how to configure TCP/IP.

I could go on, but that's enough for now.

:)

Outspoken stupid people who don't realize how stupid they are being.

how is being outspoken stupid? am I supposed to just quitley vent my pet peeves, and never confront or try to rememdy what is bothering me?

My pet peeve is...people who complain about what pisses them off, but if a chance to confront that person comes up, they chicken out and don't say anything. If you think someone is doing something stupid, tell them. I thought we werent supposed to bottle stuff up inside?
If you just want to post your pet peeves about stuff and pass up opportunities to remedy them, I really dont think you have the right to pissed off about them in the first place.

Also my other pet peeve is when landscapers start work at 7am... :(
