The graphics are terrible (horrible framerate + mad tearing), and the game just feels so generic. It has A LOT of aim assist (I thought that L trigger was lockon initially because when zoomed in, my cross hair just stuck to the enemy).
I'm surprised to hear you say that. What resolution are you running at? 1080i here, and I got no noticable framerate or tearing issues. I think it looks fantastic. The only thing that I thought looked cheesy was the rain splatters on the gun, but even then, it's not that bad.

I also noticed the aim assist, but I could not care less when it's single player. Doesn't bother me one bit.
I'm running 720p.

I dunno I think that since I'm so picky I'm just very keen to noticing framerate hits and tearing issues. It was very noticeable in the demo, as well as the framerate looking like a PS2 game at some points.

THe tearing wasn't as bad as it is in Saints Row, but it's like between how bad it is in Saints Row and a game w/out tearing.
That's probably the thing, then, as I'm not nearly as sensitive to frame rate issues and tearing. I'm more of an immersive gamer than seeing more of what is on the surface. The frame rate would have to hit low around 15fps before I'd notice it while playing action sequences.

Ah okay. Well yah since I'm just really into gaming I notice this crap big time. Anything below 30FPS and it bugs me heh.

The one thing that pisses me off about the Xbox360 is that they have the games running in a bunch of different resolutions for people w/different TV's.

Atleast the freakin devs could make it run the same in EVERY resolution before shipping it so that there aren't huge framerate/tearing issues. Most noticeable is Saints Row. In 480i (I brought my 360 to the beach during a hurricane last year and played it) the framerate and game plays and looks great. But put it on an HDTV in 720p and the graphics to go shlt.

There has to be some sort of standard that should be met and MS should not allow crap to get through IMO. I hear their testing that the games have to go through in order to pass to be released is pretty tough and intense. I would think framerate and quality would be one thing they put at the top of their list, but apparently not.

I saw it immediately, and realized I've never seen that before. I intially assumed it meant his game was joinable, and when I dove further into his gamertag, his game was indeed joinable.

Has anyone seen this before, or is this one of those small addition to the spring update that was never mentioned? If it was just added, it's a very nice addition.

Yep the arrows beside gamertags was added in the update. I never saw any mention of it either, but I thinks it's pretty neat. It helps to have that instead of having to view a profile to see if you can join someone.

My son's asthma was acting up real bad yesterday so in order to get a 5-year old to sit still I went out and rented Spiderman 3 and TMNT.

Honestly, I thought my son was going to be scared of Spiderman 3 because the human character models are frightening. The eyes are bulging out like a scene from Total Recall. Oh wait, that was just me that was scared. My son was too busy asking when we were going to get to see Sandman and Venom. It's an alright game. I can appreciate what they were trying to accomplish but it is clear that with the movie deadline that they came up short in getting it fully fleshed out.

TMNT is good for a kid's game. Easy for a grown-up but just challenging enough for a kid. Definitely a port from last gen though.

I also ended up purchasing Double Dragon from the arcade. I can't believe I'm seeing slow-down in a port. Ridiculous that this made it out. Otherwise, it is the same old DD.

I downloaded Area 51 but didn't get to play it because I spent the day entertaining my kid. Today isn't looking much better either.

Holy crap yeah, in Spider-man the human graphics are just...wow. So bad and so ugly and weird. It's freaky and weird.

according to Gamestop, it looks like Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold edition is coming out this week. I might just buy it since I really enjoyed it when I rented it and been wanting to play the new heroes/villains.

I think today for people with keys and.. Wednesday for Crackdown players, right?

I pretty much bought Crackdown for the satisfaction of mocking my brother by playing Halo 3 (he's a halo player, but I'm not) :p. The bastard moved 1000 miles away though, so how am I supposed to mock him :|!

As far as I know, it started last Friday for press members and family/friends who were invited by the developers. Wednesday is when it starts for everyone else.

I personally can't wait to play it and try it out. It'll probably take forever to download with a million other people trying at the same time, so I probably won't be able to play until Thursday.

For those of us here in North America we'll get a FREE xbox live arcade game made by students called Aegis Wing this wednesday. Looks like an old school shmup which is all good for me. No news on any achievements but free is good.

Aegis Wing --- FREE game for North American Xbox Live members for a limited time!.

Xbox LIVE Arcade Intern Project Game ?Aegis Wing? Launches This Week as Free Gift to Gamers

REDMOND, Wash. ? May 14, 2007 ? This Wednesday, team up with up to three of your friends and prepare yourselves for intense side-scrolling, sci-fi shooting action in ?Aegis Wing.? Originally conceived by three Microsoft Corp. interns over the course of a summer, ?Aegis Wing? will be available for free to all Xbox LIVE® Silver and Gold members in North America for a limited time. ?Aegis Wing? will be available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360? beginning Wednesday, May 16, at 2 a.m. PDT.

?Aegis Wing? is a 2-D side-scrolling space shooter that combines epic space combat with fantastic visuals, and is set to a rich symphonic soundtrack. It is set in the year 2105, when humanity must flee a dying Earth for the distant world Europa. But this new home is soon threatened by a powerful alien race, the Araxia. With stolen Araxian technology, the Europa fleet develops an experimental star fighter and assigns four ace pilots to test it. The Aegis Wing is born, and it becomes your mission to wield this new technology as humanity?s last hope for survival.

Up to four players can play together either locally or over Xbox LIVE to defeat waves of nefarious Araxian ships and bosses, and can even combine spacecraft in two-, three- or four-ship formations to access powerful Super Weapons.

?Aegis Wing? was originally conceived by three students ? Scott Brodie, Danny Dyer and Matt Monson ?during a summer internship at Xbox LIVE Arcade. The students worked in tandem with Carbonated Games ? the creators of fan-favorite, UNO® ? to bring the game to the Xbox LIVE Arcade community. The full version of ?Aegis Wing? is being released on Xbox LIVE Arcade free of charge and will be available for a limited time.

Game Features

Game features include the following:

· Amazing environmental art

· Full symphonic soundtrack

· Up to four-player simultaneous cooperative multiplayer gameplay, either locally on the same Xbox 360 console or over Xbox LIVE*

· Ability to attach your ship to your wingmen?s spacecraft to gain the ?turret? ability and increase the firepower of the Super Weapons

· Four Super Weapons: the Hades Beam (wreaks total destruction), the Gorgon Burst (wipes out incoming fire and disables enemy spacecraft with an electromagnetic pulse), the Arcus Missile (a heat-seeking missile) and the Lambda Shield (deflects incoming fire back at enemies)

· Six epic missions and several memorable boss encounters to fight through

Where Can I Get It?

You can download ?Aegis Wing? beginning Wednesday, May 16, at 2 a.m. PDT on Xbox LIVE Arcade. ?Aegis Wing? will be available for download in North America only. ?Aegis Wing? is rated E for Everyone, with Mild Fantasy Violence. More information is available at http://www.xbox.com/games/livearcade.

It's been so long since people said they are in on the beta, so who of us here will be playing Halo 3 on wed?

We should try to set up an ATOT match this week.

After all the readings I've done (I get bored sometimes >_>) it looks like arranged matches won't be possible in the beta. Well, unless I've read something wrong.

EDIT:

That POP:LA looks pretty sweet.

Not sure where you heard that from, the party system is running fine in the Halo 3 beta. We would all join up in a party, then search for whatever gametype we'd want. So we can definitely set up a time to do this. I'm all for it.

Unfortunately for me, I'll get up Wednesday morning, and start the download (if the servers haven't crashed). I have to leave for work around 2 in the afternoon, and I seriously doubt it will be downloaded by then. So I'll be waiting until late Wednesday night before I can get my first taste.

EDIT: I'm told that parties will hold up to 8 people, but parties can only join matchmaking games, not custom ones.

The Pirates of the Caribbean demo is out but not for the USA, Canada, Mexico, or Asia. Weird.

Must've been my assumation of what a custom game is vs a normal matchmaking game. To me, a matchmaking game would've been arbitrary and the game chooses your people where custom would be where you can choose them.

I don't know if I'll actually play the game... I still don't like FPS games on the XBOX much. I went out and bought the Unreal Anthology the other day from GameStop... now there's a game (UT2K4) to play :D.

I don't know anything about the halo matchmaking system, so forgive me.

is the party system basically a lobby? So if we have 8 people in the lobby, the matchmaking will put all of us into the same game with other people? What is the max player limit for the beta (if any)?

It's like you have a lobby and you can get a group in there, and then search on the automated match making system together.

So if you are in a room w/3 other ATOT members and click go, you guys will be you 4 against a random other 4 players.

But that was only for team games. In Halo 2, you couldn't play non-team games with a party in ranked games.

It really is a great system.
